My grandfater was a child of Mary Ashabranner who later married and became Mary Hutton. My Grandfather was adopted out as an infant to the family of Amos and Janie Chambers.
My grandfather is named Frank Chambers and was born in 1897.
I would like to know more about my ashabranner family ties and history. Took our family 100 years to solve this.
email me at slipinn@aol.com

Hello. My gr.grandfather, John T. McDole, was Mary (Bettie) Ashabranners brother. I know he lived with Bettie and Joseph for awhile. I can't seem to find anything on their parents though. My grandparents were Johnny R. & Edna C.McDole. They're both buried in Manila Cemetary. Sorry I don't have any more info.
Nancy

Yes, I have found information on J. L. Ashabranner but not much on Donia other than she was Fredonia Carter. I am trying to find her parents but have had no luck yet in doing so. I would love to see your information on the Ashabranner family. If yours is from Cottonwood, Texas, I have little dought that we are related. You can email me at claudia915@aol.com

Thanks, Claudia

Viola, there are Ashabranners buried in a cemetery near Solvang (I have the specifics, just not at my fingertips)...this has to be the same family? I think there was an Isabel as part of my family, not sure....will need to check my notes...let me hear from you. BTW, that was an interesting story about the salt.
Have you found her in the 1860 or 1870 census in MO (lots of Ashabranners there then in various counties, they seemed to migrate to Mississippi County, ARK, just over the state line).

I am desc. from Essais Ashabranner from Miss County AR, also. I have lots of info on the Ashabranner's but have had a heck of a time putting Essais and Jane (their daughter Minerva was my great grandmother) with parents. I don't know Jane's maiden name (maybe Killian). Essais died as a POW in the Civil War. Jane remarried and had a daughter Elberta Chambers. I believe Jane moved to Temple, TX (where the rest of the family went) and may be buried there.
I am very interested in putting these families together....let me hear from you, cousins!

Laura,
I don't think but am not sure if any of those are related to mine. Though as I've seen in other posts, its hard to believe that there are too many Ashabranner lines living in such a small area.

Unfortunatly the Ashabranners were an unknown to me until a couple weeks ago, so the research I have done so far is pretty light and very incomplete. I'm glad I found you all here though, even if they posts are a few years old.

Heres what I know so far...
Much of my fathers side of the family lived in or near Manila, Big Lake Twp, ...and Mississippi Co in general.

I descend through Joseph A Ashabranner b. May 1854 Arkansas. m. Abt. 1871 to (Betty, Bettie) Mary E McDole b. Jan 1853 in Tennessee.
-Sidenote...1910 Census Shows her as Mary.
-1900 as Betty
-1880 as Bettie
Children that I have found so far are Benton b. abt 1873, James b. abt 1879, Henry b. Jun 1885, and Mary J. b. Abt 1876.
-Another note...a couple census show they had 5 children with 3 living. I have not found the 5th.

Mary J married James Monroe Hutton b. abt 1874.
They had numerous children,
Edgar Lee(my ggrandfather) b. abt 1903 manila Ar, William Joseph, Woodrowe b. abt. 1913, Lizzie, Eula V b. Abt. 1915, Hettie b. abt. 1909, Arline b. abt 1911, and Bessie.
I think all these children were born in or near Manila.

As I mentioned, I have heard numerous times that we had "indian blood". But, no one has been able to tell me exactly from where. There are a couple places in my tree it could come from, but this has so far been the most likely.

I look forward to hearing more from you!

Clete, You have gotten as far as the rest of us have on the Ashabranner's of NE. Arkansas, I am sorry to say. The problem is the spelling of the names, I have found alot of Asburns in Mississippi County, AR that I am sure are Ashabranners. We know little of what happened to Albsolm, Emanuel, Easias and Hezekiah, but all of which remains in AR are from these four men. I also think that they are tied to Urban. I did find some Ashabranner's in Lawrence County, MO in the early 1800's in a tax list. I wish I had better news for you but there is just so much to be done on this line and the record keeping of AR has been very poorly done.

Jamie

I'm looking for the parents of Isabella Ashabranner who was bn abt 1855 somewhere in MO. On every CA census from 1880 through 1930 it was stated that her Mother was born in IL and her Father in MO.

There is a family story that says that when Isabella was a child soldiers came and forced the family off their land. The Mother asked is she could have time to bury her husband. Before Isabella and her Mother left , the Mother covered the bottom of the wagon with salt. She told the child not to tell anyone, that the salt was their money. Does anyone have any idea where this could have been?

Later Isabella and her Mother came to CA in a covered wagon

Hello. My mother's great grandma was Syvility Ashabranner who came to CA during the gold rush with her husband(David Ladd) and SISTER ELIZABETH ASHABRANNER(mother-in-law, Sara Ashabranner.Kentucky to Mo. to CA.). I believe she is your ancester since Solomon Perkins was her husband(His Mom was Sara). I have the records of the lots in Stoddard county. I was truly amazed to see the name Susan Elizabeth! What a coincidence! My problem for a long time, and my Mom's, has been that we have never been able to trace the lineage of the sisters. Who were their parents?! How are they related to the Urbans, and were they even born in MO.? I have wanted to solve these mysteries for a long time. Could you please help me? Thank you, Richard Mahan(I live in Sunnyvale, CA and my address is 1082 Astoria Dr. Sunnyvale, Ca. 94087.

Lori, As I wrote in my two previous e-mail replies, the key may be in finding the right census. Do you have the 1850 census for Stoddard CO? If Essias Ashabranner is a next door neighbor or near next door neighbor, then you will probably, if I am not mistaken, find Syvility and Elizabeth living in the same house("lot" in records I used with PHYLLIS 7 years ago while tracking Essais for her). I think it was a regular census record, at least, but I don't remember the year and cannot locate it as yet. I am very curious to see if you can find Essais in the records(Esaais Asherbranner in the 1850 Big Lake, Miss. CO, AR, census.

Thank you so much....yes, my Minerva was the daughter of Essais and Jane Ashabranner (don't know Jane's maiden name). At least one family record says Minerva was born in Cape Girardeau. I know there were a lot of Ashabranners there.....one record I've never found much on was an "Absalom Ashabranner who died in 1836 while on business in St. Louis, was from Cape Girardeau." That was in a St. Louis newspaper.....I know of another Absalom that I suspect was a brother to my Essais, however. These families are allied with the Bollingers, Killians, Zimmerman's, etc. Any help would be appreciated! I'll be gone the next few days, but will check back in with you when I get back. Thank you again.

Essais and Jane's daughter, Minerva, was my great grandmother, supposedly born in Cape Girardeau. I'd love to hear from you.
Phyllis
San Diego
