It's a different line. I remember Arthur well. He was a riot and always somehow made himself the center of attention. His first name was Cheaster, but he went by his middle name. My grandfather was also Chester Arthur Ashbaugh and he used the Chester. Maybe that is why.

We all knew him as "Pickle." I don't know the story behind that one, but that's what everyone in the family called him. He was born February 19, 1908 and died July 09, 1997. Bessie was born September 12, 1911.

His son Fred was a long time Ashbaugh family reunion president, and I filled the job after him until the reunion temporarily disbanded a few years ago. I knew Martha, but not as well as Fred or Art.

Pickle's father was Charles Emerson Ashbaugh b. November 22, 1882 son of James Saxton Ashbaugh (son of Andrew, son of John, son of Henry Eschbaugh b. @ 1706 in Switzerland or Palatinate Germany) and Margaret Ann Huston, daughter of Bennett Huston and Luzilla Engle (I have more info on these people and their ancestors). Charles was Uncle Charlie to my Dad and grandfather. I know a couple stories about him. and some pictures. Pickle's mother was Ida Spohn. She was born February 1882 and died in 1926. Ida's parents were Jeremiah Spohn b. 1840 and Eran ? b. 1850. Given a bit of time I think I MIGHT be able to find out who HER parents were. I also have Jeremiah's ancestry back a couple generations.

Let me know what you would like and maybe I can figure out how to get this stuff organized enough to email it to you. Maybe a few different charts.
