I am a decendant of DDA.The Ashburn name originates in England. They are the descendants of Germans (Anglo-Saxons) who migrated to England between 400 - 800 AD. They were then called Esseburn. They were landholders listed in the Doomsday Tax Book of "William the Conquerer" in 1185. The spelling and pronunciation have slowly changed over the years. There is the town of Ashburn in Derbyshire and they are also found in Sussex, and Essex.
Various spellings have been used over the years, but it seems that the "e" was dropped when Francis came to America. from my records.
