Virginia Ashburn and John Calvin Holt were married in 1878 in Arkansas. Virginia's father was Jason Ashburn who came to Mississippi County Arkansas in 1835. Virginia and John were my ggrandparents. My grandfather - Peter Soloman Holt - claimed to be "1/2 Indian" leading me to believe that Virginia was Native American. It has been suggested that Peter claimed Indian blood in an effort to thwart discovery of African American ancestry. If anyone has any info on any of the afore-mentioned people I would love to see or hear it.
