I am helping my Aunt Frances Lake Leedy McKinney to find info on a William Kooles of Aseville NC. He owned or operated a Bar B Q Inc. in Aseville. She had a son there named: Russell Stephen McKinney. Born at St Josephs Hosp. on Oct 12, 1950. Did his father raise him? She does not know who raised him. He would be my cousin.

Hi Peter Thanks for that, but i have the marriage certificate for Samuel & Mary's marriage now. would be interested to find any other Ashe's though I think Sam's dad was also Samuel & Mary's dad was James Ferguson.
My late husband came from Creagah & i have managed to trace his ancestors back to 1460 but am finding it a little more difficult on me mummy's side. I lost all the data i had inputted with Ancestry cos i didn't re register when they changed it around!!!! infuriating but addictive eh? Regards Laurine

I am looking for information on my paternal grandfather James Curtis Ashe. I believe he was born in Maine around 1920. He served in the USAR during WWII. he married a Marie Flynn and has a son Brian Sean Ashe. Brian was my father. All the above mentioned folks are deceased. Any information would be helpful.

Gregory Ashe b. May 1844, Ireland (parents unk but siblings are Johanna Ashe, who married Cornelius Hurley, Patrick Ashe, who married Margaret (Margareth) Mangan. May also have a brother Matthew.

Gregory married Ellen Manning, b 1854, Ireland, and their children were: Matthew, Mary Elizabeth, James Edward, Mae Agnes (married Jason Hayes Ferguson) and Nora Hannah (who married Andrew Ratto).

Gregory died Dec 1908, San Francisco California.

Looking for connections or additional facts on this family

sorry I am so late on this (eessh). Mary Ann Mannix was born 27 June 1893 in Goretmore, Banteer, Ireland. 22 August 1964 in Springfield Ma. Her parents were Patrick Mannix and Ellen Sweeney.
Patrick's parents were Patrick Mannix and Julia Collins.

Patrick's mother was Mary Dineen.

There is a book that has the genealogy of Thomas Ashe going back about 5 generations. I know that the hanafins are on it because I accidently linked us up with them. We are related, somehow. Unfortunately, our parish records were burned. I will look for my pedigree. You may also want to check for the book. It is about 50 pages long and is written in English on one side and Gaelic on the other. I found a copy on ebay.

Hi, where did they live? I don't have a Charles in my group, but that doesn't mean that there's not one there - only perhaps that I have not found him yet! Mine are primarily in the Tinconderoga NY/Orwell, Rutland, Verginnes Vermont areas.

I am refocusing again on my family's genealogy, which I had set aside for awhile.....

I am connected to this Ashe family ..... My line is:

Charles Ash and Rosanna Pomerleau
their son -- William H. Ash m. Jennie Eunetia Day
their son - William H. Ash m. Isabel Burbank
their son, Harry Ashe (my grandfather).

I believe this is correct -- I don't have my family papers in front of me at the moment.

The original spelling of Ashe had no "e".

I'd love to compare notes.

I forgot to mention what my grandfather's and great-grandfather's names were. My grandfather's name was William Claudell Ashe and his state of birth was South Carolina, USA. I don't know his birth date or death date. My great-grandfather's name was John Dealas (may be Dealus)Ashe and his state of birth was North Carolina, USA. I don't know his birth date or death date either. If I had to guess a year range for their birth dates I would guess my grandfather's to be somewhere between 1929 (if he was 30 when my father was born) and 1940 (if he was 19 when my father was born) and my great-grandfather's to be somewhere around the late 1800's or early 1900's.

I am trying to do my genealogy and have been having problems with my father's side. He doesn't know any info about his father other than name and state of birth and does not care to know. He says we are related to the family after which the city of Asheville, North Carolina is named but the period of time between then and now nobody in my family seems to know anything about. I think I know my grandfather's name and state of birth and my great-grandfather's name and state of birth but that is about it and I've hit a dead end. If anyone here has any info I would be glad to hear it.

My greatgrandmothers mother, Mary Kavanagh's sister was Johanna Kavanagh Ashe, grandmother to Thomas Ashe, the Patriot. The Kavanaghs were from Boherbrack a bit north of Kinard.

There is a possibility. The ages look good, and Tralee and Dingle are County Kerry. My wife has a cousin that traveled to Tralee many years ago and spoke to some relations. I'll try to track him down and see if he has more information.

I have been reviewing my family tree and found a Patrick Ashe born 1876 who married a Catherine O'Brien. have them as having 2 children named Catherine and Brien. I have no idea where they lived. Patrick's father was Francis Ashe and mother - Mary Donoghue. Does this sound like it could be related to your family?

My paternal grandmother was Elizabeth Ashe and born in Paisley in 1890. On the 1901 census she is shown with her parents James and Elizabeth Ashe also a brother William George aged 7....... either this is not him, the age is wrong or the date of his marriage is wrong. i hpoe this gets to you as your message was posted in 2001. What was William's middle name? Was it Claudell? I ask this because my grandfather's name was William Claudell Ashe. At least that is what I have been told by my father. My grandmother told me that William's father's name was Johnathon (maybe spelled differently as she didn't spell it for me)and that Johnathon was a Texas Ranger.

I need a little help. I am trying to find info on my grandfather but my father won't talk about him because he did not like him. I was able to get his name and birth state out of him but that is about it so if any of you have any info at all I would be glad to hear it. His name was William Claudell Ashe and he was born in North Carolina and his father's name was Johnathon (I think that is how you spell it but it may be spell one of the other ways) Ashe who was a Texas ranger born in North Carolina according to my grandmother. I would ask my grandmother about him but she is dead and she didn't like talking about him either when she was alive.

Was this John Ashe the same one that was a Texas Ranger because my grandmother said that my great-grandfather (her first husband and my father's father's father was John Ashe born in North Carolina and was a Texas ranger but I have been unable to find any info on him.

hi I am also very interested in Ashe family of northern Ireland. My grandfather was William son of Henry Ashe who married Jane Magee in 1860 and lived in Lisburn. William migrated to Australia and my father was Robert Henry which seems to be a family name. Your names are not familiar but i have very little information. would love to hear from you.

I am looking for info on descendants of John Ashe, for whom Asheville, NC was named for. Anecdotal family history says my gg-grandmother was Cynthia Dockery, whose mother was Mary Bradburn, who was the daughter of John Bradburn, and that her gg-grandfather was John Ashe (1720-1781). I have nothing to verify this. Can anyone help?

I was roaming around ancestry and came across this. I'm actually Linda's daughter and I'm primaryly doing the research for our family. I just recently (yesterday, in fact) found George Elliott's father on the Kanawha County Family Tree Project website. I wish my mom and I were up to speed on checking message boards to have this information sooner! But if you have any extra information it would be greatly appreciated.
