This information is incorrect!!! Jeanette (Jean) was married to Daniel Max Ashland, their one and only son was Robert Daniel Ashland (my late husband).

was the son of Andrew Jackson Ashline and Eliza Jane Best
She is buried in Waters Cemetery Champlain,Clinton,New York
I'm not sure when Forrest moved to St Albans VT, but he was born in Champlain.Clinton New York.
In 1930 he took in a niece when her mother Bessie Ashland Matott Olena died, story was her second husband pushed her down stairs and she lost the baby and died the next day.

When you check the census records from 1850 on in Champlain, and Mooers look under name ASHLINE.

Father born in Escanaba, MI and Mom in Crystall Falls, MI.
Father had 3 brothers. Marcell, James, & Joseph
Mother had 2 brothers. Emil & Lori.

I am looking for a Harriet Ashland (born into an upper class family in Canada around 1860), she was disowned because she married Louis Dufrane (born in Cazaville, Quebec, Canada, in 1856). Could you please list her brothers and sisters with as many dates as you have.
Eliza J. was my great aunt,d/o William D. Best and Sarah Ann Taylor.
Her her brother David J. Best and sister Fannie Ann Best Kathan were my great grandparents,
Davids daughter Blanche b. 1879, married Fannie's son b. 1880, in Alma Mi.
If you were interested in where William, David, Fannie, and Lyman moved to, I have that information, but I do not know where James lived.

Yes there are about 10-20 people in Norway named Asland, half of which came from Telemark.
Do you know if Telemark is where your grandfather came from ?

I am married to Stephen R. Ashland who is the grandson of Cheeney Ashland who was the brother of Forrest .Steve attended a 100th birthday in St.Albans Vermont for Forrest .. It was Written up in a St Albans newspaper at the time. I believe both Cheeney and Forrest were sons of Andrew Jackson Ashland but I cant be 100 % sure ..
