I don't know if this has any relevance to your Ashley family members, but my gr-great grandmother was Matilda Ashley, born in Middletown, NJ in 1816. She lived most of her life in New York City and died in Brooklyn in 1879. Her husband was William R. Willis, who it appears died in 1849. If you know anything of Matilda and her ancestry, it would be greatly appreciated!
