Askay or Askey

My Ggrandmother was Elsie Jane Askey, but Askey is sometimes spelled "Askay" in our family records. Elsie is a mystery to many of us, as according to some relatives her family came to Penna from Oklahoma near "where Will Rogers was born" and she was part Native American. However, the 1850 census shows her in Penna. Her death certificate states that Elsie was born in 1831 in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, and was buried there in 1910. Her parents were David Askey and Mary Young Askey, and she married William Kline. Has anyone else here run into the Askay/Askey situation? I'd appreciate any help! Tx. -Ruth
