Sorry it has been so long since our origional message exchanges. It has only been a year since I have had internet access at home, and I'm working my way through the backlog of e-mail.
I don't have much better information other than updates on my siblings which I will be able to share later. I attend several Askey reunions so maybe we'll meet this summer. Of course, maybe we already did meet in 2007!
I have some information at
www.askey.wetpaint.com, a wiki-like site. I'm posting text (non-tree) family info there. Willard E. Wisler has posted there. The family of Captian Thomas Erskine is there. One purpose is to provide a place for "memories" that don't fit elsewhere. Another is to help guide research as not all "Askey" families are in the Scots-Irish ASKEY line. We can post confirmed or refuted information here to help others with their research.
I know of the MyFamily site but haven't figured out how to begin since there are a number of trees. Where would I start so I don't add errors or redundant trees?
I have started a personal tree in TribalPages, where some of our relatives have also posted trees. As a result, I recently got a message from a New York state Askey line that clearly fits our tree. They found my sapling (baby tree) by doing a Google search!
Once I have my TribalPages tree outlined to the Good Cap't then I'll share the link more broadly. I don't envision my TribalPages tree as replacing the MyFamily Scots-Irish ASKEYS work, but as a supplement. My Wetpaint site will include information about both of them.
Thanks again for your reply, and I'm sorry it has been so long!
John
