I am trying to find details on a Maria Aspin/Aspden. According to the birth certificate of her son William Oddie (1844 - Albert Place, Lower Darwen) she was married to James Oddie who was a butcher.

Unfortunately I am unable to find details of her marriage to James Oddie.

She died soon after William's birth in 1848 at which time they were living in Paradise Street, Lower Darwen.I think I have found William on the 1851 census living in Blackburn at 24 Old Square with relatives - the entry reads:

Richard Aspden--Head--40--Greengrocer
Nancy Aspden--Wife--36--
Mary Aspden--Daughter--15--scholar
Richard Aspden--Son--12--scholar
George Aspden--Son--10?--Scholar
Ellen Aspden--Daughter--6--Scholar
Robert Aspden--Son--3--Scholar
Eliz? Aspden--Daughter--1--
William Oddie--Relative--5--Scholar
Alice Croft?--Servant--32--House Servant

I'm not sure if James Oddie may have remarried and moved over towards Grindleton - as I know that many of the Oddie's originally come from Grindleton.

I hope that some of these details may link in with someone out there? Hope someone can help!

Regards, Lawson
