Hi Marcus,
Just received your message, I don't know too much about Jean only her pedigree, youngest of five children, parents were William C Asplen born 1871 and Augusta Harrington, Williams parents are Joseph Asplen born 1840 in Girton, Cambridge and Sarah Bowles, Joseph's parents Joseph Asplen born 1811 also in Girton, Cambridge and Jane Blackley, they had two other sons Johnathon (b18290 and William (b1832), Johnathon was sent to Australia as a convict and died in Freemantle in 1864. Anyway Joseph's parents were John Asplin (b1779 Haddenham, Cambs) and Susan Levitt (Levett).
My line of family come also from this couple through their 5th child Robert, Joseph was the 7th child. I can trace back to a Richard Asplamd who died about 1654 in Haddenham.

I hope that's a start, theres a lot of info, I don't know anything about Jean, husband and any children, so sorry.

Let me know how you get on.

regards

Michael Asplen.

They had at least 5 children baptised in Rampton, according to LDS, between 1774 and 1782.

Is this by any chance your Joshua Asplin? Do you have info on the Rampton
Asplins that you would be willing to share?

Thanks
Alex

Joan,
Sorry for the really late response! Which census did you find Peter and Frances in? Do you have any documentation that Peter's son John married Lydia Barker? If that is correct, then Toni Smith's (see other postings) ancestor John Asplin who married Lydia Barker in 1832 would be Peter's son, yet I think she lists John's father as also named John.

Thanks for any info you have.

Diane Klein
Fort Worth, Texas

Hi,

I am retired_donna's niece. I know there are several of us on here working the Asplin family tree at present. I am one of them. We are from Riona Asplin's daughter Eva Asplin. I know I have your family in my tree. The Asplin family is pretty big. I have been researching Isacc Asplin's Grandfather Peter's children through the England census. There are quite a few that stayed. If I can help, I will. Isaac Asplin had Issac Newton Asplin who had Maude Asplin who had Edward Jennings. I don't have who he married or his children. Maybe we can exchange info. joanwicker@yahoo.com

I know he died in Christchurch Norfolk / Cambs in 1822.
I am trying to look into another ASPLIN family though - Henrietta Jane ASPLIN born 1836 in Houghton, Hunts, who married 1 March 1863 to John Henry AYRE.
Strange that this Henrietta married into my father's side of the family and so I know that her parents were James ASPLIN and Jane
Any help would be great.
I have lots of info on my mother's Asplins if you are interested
Toni Smith - Leicester
Peter Asplin/Mary Brown (marr. between 1810-1840?)

I would like to find out when and where this couple got married, because it has a lot of bearing whether he was married before, as I believe him to be. Both Peter and Mary came from the area of Cambridgeshire, Eng around Wimblington/Doddington/March, Peter was born in 1776, Mary in 1786. I found a Peter Asplin, born the same year and the same place who was married to a Frances Young in 1801 and had four children with her, but nothing is known about her death or divorce to Peter. If he got married to Mary Brown, it would have to be after 1810, when his and Frances' last child, Eleanor, was born. If Peter and Mary did get married in England, then that would solve the question of whether they came to the United States together like I think they did, because i don't know when he arrived otherwise. But from what others have told me, they more than likely got married in the US, but I would like to have a date and a place on when that took place. My e-mail address is stlambert1@yahoo.com if you would like to get in touch. Thank you.

According to some information you had previously sent me his name was also John.
Thomas Haynes (age 30), Ellen Haynes (age 27), Isaac "Haynes" (age 5), and Joseph Haynes (age 3) arrived in New York on August 12, 1836 aboard the ship Brig Finley (departure from Liverpool) according to "New York, 1820-1850 Passenger and Immigration Lists" database on Ancestry.com. I'm assuming that this is our family and that whoever took the information down just assumed that Isaac's last name was Haynes because of his family.

I know I'm not related to "your" Asplin family, but I would be interested to know where in England your Isaac Asplin was born, as a frame of reference so our's don't get mixed up. I "think" my Isaac Asplin was born in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire in 1830. Now I saw another Isaac Asplin born in 1825 in Stretham, Cambridgeshire--but I think he stayed and died in England. Didn't really think there would be that many people named Isaac Asplin, but apparantely in England there was.

Thank you for answering...My John Asplend is listed in a marriage record for 1826 in Maryland, but I can't find anything further back than that. In fact, John is listed as head of household on (I believe) 1840 census, but his wife, Harriett, is head of household on 1850 census. I haven't been able to find out anything about what happened before or after. I haven't done research in approx. ten years, so I'm almost starting over. So I guess we will hold off for now, but I again want to thank you for responding...Even though I haven't done research for so long, something about this gg grandfather keeps "calling" to me. So, I'll keep trying! Thanks again

Mary
morriscode1227@aol.com

Still working on the Asplin line in Missouri. Do you know of any Asplins in Oxfordshire? Mike didn't mention that area. By the way, is he still around?
Hi Donna. I'm Diane, David's other half. The Asplins are in my line so I thought I'd respond. That's a great piece of info on Ellen and Thomas Haynes! Do you know if they married here in the States? Or in England? I'm descended through Isaac's daughter Penelope who married Julius Schnitzius. Which one are you descended through? Have you anything on Isaac's wife Nancy Lewis? LDS has her as the daughter of George Washington Lewis and Sarah Bullard, born in Claiborne County, Tennessee. I'm trying to substantiate this. I have corresponded with Mike Asplin in England who has done a lot of research on the family name over there. But he hasn't had any luck, though the name Isaac is common in his line. But we weren't looking in Oxfordshire. I have some photocopies of some Asplin pictures another internet relative sent, but she's not sure all the names written on the back are correct. Let me know if there's anything specific you're looking for.

Hi Cherylynn

We thought it would be the Sackfield line of ASPLINS. We are not of that line, but with the extensive research we are doing on our own family here in Australia we have made a substantial Family Tree on the Sackfield line which we call our Miscelleanous ASPLIN line. This is incomplete of course as the the verifications of such a large family is quite costly. We have had two mailouts to all ASPLIN families in Australia and lots of Sackfield families replied also. We are holding a series of Family Reunions here in Australia later this year and offered to do one for the Sackfield families as most of them are now in Victoria Australia. They did not respond to this. We would be very interested in obtaining the book you mentioned as James' cousin in North Queensland is married into that line therefore brings both Asplin families together. Can you let us know when and where this is available. I will also make some enquiries to families of that line that I correspond with also.
