I think Susan Lardner already informed you. I'm looking for my great-grandfather Anton August Neugebauer, born 1834. But I'm searching the father from Jakob Friedrich born 1804. This Anton August Neugebauer must be born about 1770. I tried a lot and found nothing in Bourgfelden or Prieborn/Slesia. But the brother from Anton August was a famous Orgelbauer. Did you hear anything about him or know anything more?

Thank you for your email. As it turns out, the person we were looking for married into the Astor family. She was "Margaret Rankin Astor Drayton". She married John Astor Drayton (yr?) and got a divorce from him in 1948 at the Flying M E dude-divorce ranch outside of Reno. That is where my husband met "Maggie Astor" (as she called herself) as he was working on the Flying M E as a dude wrangler.

We found "Maggie Astor's" daughter, Maia Astor-Drayton, who confirmed some details for us and told us her mother died in England in 1965. In my notes, I see that Maia talked about her "Aunt Peggy" who I believe would be your mother! Would that make you and Maia cousins?

I would love to talk to you by phone or email, and send you a copy of the chapter in our book, "The Divorce Seekers", about "Maggie Astor".

I already emailed with Susan Lario. Adolf Singeisen's name before was Neugebauer, the son of Clara Neugebauer. I'm looking for the grandfather Anton August Neugebauer, born about 1770.

I am a relative from you from Switzerland.
My grand-grand-father Anton August Neugebauer, born 19.5.1834 was a brother from Margart Neugebauer, born 18.4.1844 who married Friedrich Singeisen. The son Adolf Singeisen married Catherin Aster, born 14.10.1874. The father from Anton August and Margart (total 9 siblings) was Jakob Friedrich Neugebauer, born 11.8.1804 and Katherine Fassbind, geb. 5.2.1800 both born in Switzerland. The father from Jakob Friedrich N. was Anton August N., born about 1770 in Prieborn, preuss. Schlesien (today Poland) married 16.8.1803 with Anna Maria Strub.
I'm searching the dates of Anton August Neugebauer, born about 1770. If you have any information I would be glad to get it.

i don't have it all put together yetk, but i do know that it started with Backhouse....my great grandmother was Sarah Backhouse, her father was Richard and his brother was William...and that lne moved down in marriages...don't have all the names, but can tell you that a Jacob married ans Aster and that was how John got his name John Jacob Aster....who went down on the Titanic.
Sarah married Eli A. Rindress (which have several spellngs, mine being Rhyndress, there must be a dozen)

I believe that Wm Backhouse was the uncle of my great grandmother born 1844 in Yorkshire, England father was Richard and she married Eli A. Rhyndress, Ryness,(whichever....there are about a dozen spellings)

this is the information i have on this margaret terry

she was born in 1862 in Rome, Italy. her parents were Luther Chanler and Louisa Ward.
she was named Louisa Margaret Terry but was often known as "Margaret" or "Daisy".
in 1886 she married Winthrop Chanler. Margaret was an author and some of her books include:
"Roman spring memoirs"
"memory makes music"
"autumn in the valley" and
"winthrop chanler's letter's"
she died in 1952.

I am researching the philanthropy of Mrs. Caroline Astor Wilson (1861-1948), but have been unable to determine the existence or location of the collection of her personal papers. Caroline was the daughter of William Backhouse Astor, Jr., and Caroline Schermerhorn Astor. Her brother John Jacob Astor IV died on the Titanic. She married Marshall Orme Wilson.

Any suggestions where I might find Caroline Astor Wilson’s personal papers, if they exist, would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1700's in New York City, one Adam sister married an Astor and the other married a Corgan. The Adams and Astor were both shipowners and lived next door to each other in NYC. So the story goes. Can anyone offer more detail or a longer story? Thanks.
