Surnames: Kuczenski, Kerchinski, Kerchin, Kerchen
No, sorry. But that's not to say they're not related. The 1930 census, last available, shows my Kerchenski family in Beccaria, Clearfield, PA, (outside Altoona) about 190 miles west from Scranton.

That census has the name as Kuczenski: Stanley and Caroline, with children Wilamina (known as Billie), Joseph, Chester, Marcella (or Marcie) Genevie, Henry, Harriot, Cecila, Edwin, and Frances. Children ranging from 18 to 1mo.

It appears Kuczenski was the original spelling, as I find Stanley immigrating in 1904 with name spelled that way, but extended family usually came to agreement on the new American name to be adapted.

Aside from the 1940 census to come, the family ended up in Detroit, MI by the early-1940s (war years and factory jobs). You don't mention Michael's age, but your Michael may be brother or other kin to Stanley, and might be found in earlier census living closer to him.
