      <description>My great-grandfather was named Michael, born in 1892, and his father was Patrick, married to Ellen Mulroy, but there was no James in his family. Ellen and Patrick were married in Straid, though. I'm sure we're connected, but I'm not sure how. </description>

      <description>Hi&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;We too are researching the Athy from Co Mayo,&lt;br&gt;My wifes Grandfather was James born 1900,he had a brother called Michael born 1898 that we think emigrated, his father was Patrick born 1858, married to ann mulroy,&lt;br&gt;but they were form straid co mayo&lt;br&gt;What other info do you have ? &lt;br&gt;do you have any photos of Michael or Patrick&lt;br&gt;Many Thanks &lt;br&gt;Peter</description>

      <description>I'm researching my family, the Athys, who are from the Manulla area of County Mayo. My great-grandfather Michael was born in 1892 and emigrated to New York in 1914. His father Pat was born around 1861 and died in 1916. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Pat's father is Tom, but I have no birth year or death year for Tom. I don't know who Pat's mother is either. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Any information anyone may have would be appreciated. </description>

      <description>THE TUAM HERALD, SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 1909&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Edmond Joseph Phillip Lynch Athy, of Renmore, Galway, is a J.P. for the Co.&lt;br&gt;and was High Sheriff in 1904.  He was born in 1859, the only son of Randle&lt;br&gt;Lynch Athy, late Captain of the Galway Artillery.  He married in 1881, Annette,&lt;br&gt;daughter of Richard Gradwell, Dowth Hall, Co Meath, niece of Monsignor Robert&lt;br&gt;Gradwell, and grand niece of Bishop Robert Gradwell, the primate, who succeeded&lt;br&gt;in the rectorship of the English College at Rome the future Cardinal Wiseman. &lt;br&gt;The Athys were one of the oldest families in Galway and one of the tribes. &lt;br&gt;The Hon Richard Nugent is married to a sister of Mrs Athy.</description>

      <title>Death of William H. Athy ~ born Leon, Decatur County, Iowa</title>

      <description>&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa&lt;br&gt;Thursday, March 26, 1908&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;WILLIAM H. ATHY was born at Leon, Iowa, Oct. 15th, 1863 and died at Clarinda Hospital on Monday, March 16th, 1908, at 9:45 p.m. His remains were brought home to his stricken family at Chariton and the funeral services held from the family residence on Thursday morning, March 19th at 9 'clock a.m., conducted by Rev. C.E. Wells, Pastor of the christian Church, and interment will take place at Leon.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;MR. ATHA was married to MISS JENNIE JARSONS at Leon, January 15, 1882, who survives him. From this union were born 7 children, 6 of whom are living. MRS. GEO. SAGE, CHAS. M., OTIS L., CARL, HAROLD, and FRANK H., all of whom&lt;br&gt;live in our city.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;MR. ATHA has lived in Chariton 19 years. He became a Christian 12 years ago was baptized during a revival held by Rev. Harold J. Morsor, and has been a consistent member of the Christian Church ever since. He was also a member&lt;br&gt;of the Modern Woodmen of America and the I.O.O.F. of Chariton Lodge, No. 64. He was a good husband, and father and until the unfortunate necessity of his being detained at the hospital was a cheerful, honest citizen of our&lt;br&gt;city.
