I have had so much luck lately in Rootsweb finding Mary's husband's family descendants still in Devon that I thought I would make a try with Mary Atkins' family. She was married in Bampton to Thomas Bowerman/Burman, but her children were baptised at St. Peter's C of E church in the tiny village of Clayhanger, Devon. At the same time, these other baptisms took place: Robert, son of Richard and Elizabeth Atkins, 1819; James, son of same, 1820; Elizabeth, dau of same, 1823; Martha, dau of same, 1825; Mary, dau of same, 1828. Richard Atkins and Elizabeth Langdon of Clayhanger Parish were married by banns, 15 Jan 1815. In 1775 was a marriage of John Old and Joan Atkins. They had children christened named Elizabeth, Sarah, John, and Thomas. A James Old was buried in 1782. Twenty years ago some of the parish record books were still in the church: under burials Elizabeth Atkins was buried 1 Apr 1838, aged 52; Richard Atkins was buried 2 Apr 1843.
