Christopher Atkinson and Elizabeth or Betsey Johnston from
Embden, Somerset Co, Maine, brought their family to
Fairfield near Baraboo, Sauk Co, Wisconsin.
Christopher was initially from Fredericksburg,Virginia,
moving at age 30 to Maine and becoming a hat maker.
Betsey is from Mass.
This family had fourteen children, nine sons, all surviving to maturity. I have only found six of the sons and two daughters, possibly a third dau and poss a seventh son.
I found two sons in La Crosse, Wisconsin George and Timothy.
They are both lumbermen. George was elected lumber imspecter.
George has a nice bio in an 1892 County history with much about his father, too. Page 315 & 316 of:
