Re: Christopher Atkinson in Embden, Somerset Co, Maine and Fairfield near Baraboo, Sauk Co, Wisconsin

If you google "Walworth Delavan Porter" you get a online book A Standard History of Sauk County Wisconsin, Volume II by Harry Ellsworth Cole (1918). I found the Atkinson family on pages 570-2, 609-10, & 860.

Also Embden, Town of Yore by Ernest George Walker (1929). Christopher is on pages 478, 491, 499, 506-7, & 510-1. Other Atkinson names to. Walker including the cute note of the Williams family "Albert (1822), who won Ellen Atkinson (1835) of middle Embden and went west..." p.120

Happy hunting.

Have you looked on the 1911 Census? there are only 4 Robert Atkinsons listed as born in 1909 and living in the same Household as another Robert Atkinson. Three, of whom, are in County Durham. One in Scarborough. Of the three in County Durham. One (John) Robert is at Sedgefield. One Robert is at Lanchester. The other Robert is listed at Durham.
All the best,
Chris Atkinson

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~blackstone...

Thank you ... Great information, well told.

I doubt my Atkinson Ancestor is part of your collection. A few too many decades in between, I think, but I will ask, anyhow.

I am looking for a Henry Atkinson, born about 1790. The only record I have for him is the 1850 census of York, Maine. The family did move around York, Berwick, Rollinsford, and Exeter.

It's a long shot, but do you have any hints?

O'Neill Atkinson

Does anyone have a Samuel O'Neill in their family who was born about 1859?
Possibly from Co. Kerry, Dingle and or Killarney, but this is to be taken with a grain of salt (as it may have just been one of my grandfathers grand tales).
I am looking for any birth/baptismal information (Mainly to confirm his father's identity, who was possibly named James) to confirm his
parents names, as stated on his Death Certificate.
I am his direct decendent and cannot find birth records for him, only what is stated on his Death Certificate and US/State Censuses (from the 1890s to the 1930s).
I have also verified the movement of his family from Wisconsin, Minnesota, and
Washington State.
Sam's son (my grandfather) was Catholic, so I am assuming that he was also.
Because I am living in Europe, I obviously cannot look up parish records for the Buffalo, NY area circa 1859. How I wish that those records were on the internet!

His Death Certificate states:
Samuel O'Neil
DOB: 16.Aug.1859 -Buffalo, New York
DOD: 13.June.1935 - Orchards, Clark, Washington

Wife and Death Certificate informant: Catherine Ward

Parents: James O'Neil + Mary Atkinson

No middle names are given.

I would like to know who Sam's father was and how old he was when Samuel was born.
It would be nice to now if Samuel had any siblings.

Do these people sound familiar to anyone?
If so, please, write to me.

oneill.gerald@gmx.at

Best regards,
Gerald O'Neill

I do not know whether I can help you, but I will try. My ancestor Samuel Atkinson left the Exeter area sometime in the 1780's I believe, and moved to Boscawen N.H. with his wife Catharine Sanborn Atkinson and his mother and step father Hannah and James Delap or Dunlap, I know that during that time period There was atleast 2 other Atkinsons living near Exeter, Benjamin and John. John was married to a Rebecca Morgan. Benjamin moved to Sandwich N.H. My email address is smethport67@yahoo.com If you want to correspond.
The first Atkinson family in New Hampshire

Joseph Atkinson the first Atkinson in New hampshire. He shows up as early as 1652 in a court case against Mary Clay in Portsmouth N.H. Took the oath of Fidelitie 1657 in Exeter N.H. Received a 13 acre land grant from the town of Portsmouth in 1660. 3 known children (could be more) John, Dorcas, and Jane. Jane married Philip Deland and resided in Newbury Mass. Dorcas married James keniston and resided in both Greenland and Stratham N.H. John sold his fathers land grant in 1702 and he was assaulted by John Tuftin and rendered disabled by him in 1706. John had a child bound out to Col. Thomas Packer in 1707 probably because he could not earn a living because of his disability. In 1718 Johns wife (or widow) had a seat in the Stratham meeting house, right next to John's step brothers wife Goodwife Sachel(Goodwife Atkinson and Goodwife Sachel sat nxt to eachother. I have dug and dug on this family, and I think that it probable that they are tied in with the Exeter Atkinsons. Unfortunately not all information on this family is accurate, some sources state that John Atkinson and John Sachel were one and the same, this is ridiculous I have sources to disprove that thought. Also according to Jane Atkinson Deland this family is SCOTTISH. If anyone knows anything more about this family please contact me. Tim Atkinson

Atkinson) and he showed me some family history records this morning. I did a search and it brought me to this site. John Wright is my great, great grandfather and have found it fascinating to see all the familiar names from the documents he showed me. I can trace it all the way up to Aaron Atkinson but that is as far as it goes. Please contact me if you happen to see this.

Thanks,

Kyle John Atkinson

He showed my the blood line from myself, Kyle Atkinson, back to Aaron. I just found out that one of my other relatives did all the research on this about 20 years ago and has most of the names to fill in the gaps. I would also like to trace it back to Aaron's father. Please reply if you see this.

Kyle
