Attached is a marriage license for Clara ATKISON and Samuel W. RIGGS, Aug. 17, 1893.

In 1895 Samuel married Ada A. BLANKENSHIP.

I have not been able to find any other documentation on Clara. Can anyone tell me what happened to her?

Wow! I was just fooling around on the internet, searching family names and states and found this posting referring to Geraldine Prince and her marrying Aubert Atkison. Geraldine is my father's sister. How surprising to find this!

Lynda, have you been successful in locating Charlie Atkison? My great grandfather's name was Charles Atkison. He lived in Livingston County, MO. He was married to Nora Isabelle Goodman (1890-1920). Rumors have it that there is an Indian bloodline in our family, too but haven't been about to locate proof or much information on my great grandfather.

Looking for any information my grandmothers family. Father was William J Atkinson, Mother Martha Anna Stevens, both were from Ireland. Her father trained horse for racing. She had 7 sibs. They lived in or around the Philadephia area.

I don't have information to share but I am starting to work on the Atkison line for a young man who's father is Scott L. Atkinson, deceased. The young man believes that thier is some Indian blood in the family line. Hence, I am contacting you to see if you have any thoughts or have been able to make any progress on this since your original post.

An update on the Atkinson/Atkisson DNA Study:

In the last week the Sorenson Project: http://smgf.org/ have updated their
database. This is a fabulous resource. From which I have obtained the DNA
markers of a further 9 Atkinsons. The project now has 21 sets of results
back and they are starting to fall into family groups. I can identify 12
separate families now. Of course this means the others are connected.

I am looking for Dora Ellen Atkeson from Mo. married Joseph Thomas Jones in abt 1890-91, and moved to Texas. He might of moved to texas after she died, I don't know. The had two girls Mattie Lee the youngest, married William J. Downs. I also have other family members, on the Downs side m. into Atkeson's but can't tie them together.

Mary - thanks for the message. Oddly enough, my great uncle Jim's middle name is Hiram. Maybe you've pointed me in the right direction. Rumor has it, that my Great Great Grandfather Charles was buried in Andrew county. Thanks again.

Yes, Jerry and Virginia has been over our house about 3 times since I moved to Albany last May. In fact, they were just here last Sunday for my daugher's birthday.

I have to go. Our computer has not been working for a couple of months. So I am using the hospital's right now while Rachel is in speech therapy.

Yes, Rita, I'm your cousin Vickie. My dad is Jack. I've been looking for great grandpa's parents, too. I keep running into walls. It's like he just dropped off the face of the earth one day. I have loads of information on great grandma Nora. Went to Chillocothe (sp?) last summer and found reference to one of her relatives in a book that says he was kill when he was struck my lightning trying to free a horse from a fence it had gotten tangled up in. I didn't know you where living in Albany. How have you been? Do you ever see Jerry and Virginia or any of their kids? Hope to hear from you soon.

Edwin Atkison came with his family to MO around 1847. Edwin and his wife and children lived in Buchanan County for the rest of their lives. Edwin died about 1910 or before. I do not know when his wife died. Still have more questions on that family. I will look in my notes for Charles Albert Atkison. Could be one of his grandsons. Thanks for responding.
