I would be interested in Catherine/Katie's father as I'm a Atterberry researcher. My gg.gf. was Isaiah Atterberry born 1824 Howard Co MO. died 1867 Christian Co MO.
I do see that James H. Atterberry married Amy or Emma Waters June 3, 1883 in Osage City, Cole Co. MO. Amy is a widow with children living in Short Mtn. Logan Co AR. in 1900 census. She had 9 children, 7 living in 1910 living with daughter Katie and Thomas C. Brown. Children listed in 1900 are James 19,Mike 15, Cleveland 14, Katie Ann 12, Emma 9, Ida F 6 and Besie 3. James H. must have died abt. 1896/7.

Katie Ann Atterberry Brown was my grandmother. Have only recently gotten into genealogy.
Katie Ann and Thomas Calvin Brown had a daughter and five sons. William Orval, Rosamay (Rosie May), Early B, and his twin Earnie C (my father), Charles, and Clifford Calvin.

Im the daughter of John Michael Atterbury and Jody Lee Manwaring my fathers father is Thomas William Atterbury and really that is all the info i have about my father (he is still alive but have no contact with him)and his side. Lost Atterberry

Here is a good one, my grandfather was Hugh Atterberry McClure, maybe born in Iowa, he was adopted by John McClure and Edith Wineman living in Livingston Montana about 1910 through 1930. Born about 1908, records show his father was born in KS, I cant find anything on his mother, and I dont know if the Atterberry name is from the father's or the mother's side. The story goes that Hugh believed his mother was his aunt, and his aunt was his mother. Supposedly, his real mother died from TB and on her death bed told Hugh the truth about who she really was, this was maybe 1920 to 1930. I have another record that shows Hugh is a nephew to John McClure and Edith Wineman, but i cant find the Atterberry line any where. Any help or even a lead would be great.

yes this is him, he died 1867 family notes say he just wasted away so must have got some illness in the war most likely. He is buried at Jones/Chastain cem in Highlandville, Christian Co MO. He comes from Howard Co MO. but have never found his parents for sure, supposely Zachariah and Naomi unk Atterberry. He son of Charles and Sarah of SC to KY. He had a brother, Martin who married Isaish's wife Elizabeth Wilhite's niece. Zachariah went off to MS. and died in flu epedmic abt 1855. Checking out the Atterberry's in MS during this timeframe for a possible clue.

1850 census of Hancock Co KY
The Benedict Jarboe had sister Cassandra born ca 1825 they are children of Jarred born 1792 and Elizabeth JEFFERSON born 3 April 1792. In this census Jarred and Elizabeth are living next door to Benedict. Jarred's father was also Benedict.

George and Delilah Jane did have daughter Casandra born Dec 1869MO. I did find Martin and family in Hancock Co KY in 1860 with W. 11, E. 9, Wm. 7, John 5 and S. 2 after checking the census transcriber put Isabelle initial as an S but it's an I for sure. Note that the couple living next door to Martin and Cassandra (spelled Arterberry), last name is Jarboe and thinking he could be a brother??

That funny name on the 1870 census is Washington and his wife Sarah daughter Cassandra. That may be Martin son George W.

I did find Martin and Cassandra in the 1870 and 1880 census living in Stoddard Co, Mo. Living next to them in 1880 is George W, John W., Then they move to Ok and I find buried in the cemetry there Martin, Cassandra, John W and John's third wife and Melinda John's daughter. (there were two Malinda one was John's and other belonged to Martin) In the 1880 census Martin has a ward living with him age 6 Florence Rollins and George has a ward living with him Eliza Rollins age 4 not sure who they belong to. I can't find them anyplace else. Martin does state in the 1880 census that his parents were from France.

The reason Cassandra is sometimes called Graves is because that is her stepfather's name. Her mother's name was Jefferson so I guess that's why she sometimes has a last name of Jefferson.

In the 1870 census below Martin there is a Urashinghi ( I know this is not spelled right but can't tell)with a wife Laura it looks like and a daughter Cassandra. There is also a William and his family he's 37 so maybe a brothers.

I believe your Isabell is daughter of James Martin and Cassandra Jarboe also but sure can't find this family in 1860 census as they moved around so much. If Isabell was born in KY as stated and Alexander next in line born in IL. we should be able to find them in KY or IL 1860 & 1870 census but they could have been missed or on the road again! Let you know if I find something.

I did find the marriage record of Zephaniah M. Atterberry and Cassandra Josephine Dabney married on March 7, 1854 Macon Co, Mo. Eliga Buford Atterberry was born in 1854 so was Isbella (if that date is right)so if they were her parents she would be Eliga's twin and I just don't believe that I don't thank these are her parents. Her mother I believe is Cassandra because my grandmother's name was Nancy Cassandra and I'm sure she was named after her grandmother Cassandra.

That's the thing I want to find Isabella with her family and I believe she is with James Atterberry but now there is the problem, what was her mother's last name.
I was checking Mo death records and came across Eliga Buford Atterbury son of Tephanniah Atterbury and Josephine Dabney in the Mo Death records he was living in Woodlawn, MO. You know the T has to be a Z, can't always go by spelling either.
I want a census, death record or marriage record to prove I have the right names or if infomation is in a bible.

There is a Zephaniah Murray Atterberry son of Elijah and he married Isabella JAY 20 April 1848 Monroe Co MO. They divorced 1849, he married second Josephine Dabney and he married third Mary Reed Parris. NO Isabella as child. They just grab at straws without checking the dates etc.

well, you can't believe everything you see on Ancestry trees that I know. I have never seen the Graves name for Cassandra or Jefferson except there so unless you can find a marriage record for James Martin and Cassandra or her family who could be in Hancock Co KY 1850 census so might try looking for those names, Jarboe or something close to that, Jefferson or Graves. I'll let you know if I find anything on this couple.

These folks sure traveled around.
Malinda Atteberry sister of G.W. married Thomas Benton Atteberry. Malinda was born 21 Apr. 1865 Springfield, Sangamon Co IL and died 30 Dec 1935 Pleasant Hill, Atoka Co OK. Burial was 31 Dec 1935 in Wards Chapel Cem. Atoka Co OK.
Thomas Benton Atteberry was son of Wm (he and Malinda were first cousins)and Rebecca Patton. Wm and Rebecca also had Wm W. "Billy" Atteberry both Thomas and Wm were cowboys and made several trips from TX to KS as trail drivers. Thomas and Malinda married 8 Nov 1888 Polk Co AR., had 9 children.
Guess that's enough to get you going.

To make things worse on a family tree someone made up in our family Isabella is listed as Atterbury and her parents are Zepheniah Martin Atterbury and Cassandra Josephine Dabney. That just doesn't work I can't find Zepheniah listed at all. Both from KEN.

Cassandra Jefferson was born Abt. 1828 in TN, and died date unknown in McIntosh Co., OK. She married Martin Atteberry on date unknown in KY, son of William Atteberry and Sallie Fletcher.

When all else fails I get out my Atterbury book and bingo found Isabell's family. You may want to check out the following family.
James W. Martin Atteberry (notice spelling with no "R". born abt 1825 KY and died abt 1909 Atoka, Johnston co OK. Burial was in Coleman cem, Johnston Co OK. He was a farmer. He married Cassandra Jarboe Nov 17, 1847 in Hancock Co KY. She born abt 1825-30 in KY and died in McIntosh Co OK. Burial was in Stigler, Haskell Co OK.
Children:
1. George Washington Atteberry born abt 1848 KY married Delilah Jane born 1852TN, their children were Casandra, Wm M., Mary E, David R, Elizabeth all born MO.
2. Elizabeth born abt 1851 KY
3. William born abt 1853 KY.
4. John Albert born 18 May 1855 KY died abt 1920 Blocker Twp, Pittsburg Co OK. Married first Lydia C. Swarts second Viola Strang or Strong.
5. Isabell born abt 1858 KY
6. Alexander born abt 1861 IL.
7. Malinda
Parents of Jmaes W. Martin Atteberry were Wm born 1798-1806 KY and Sallie Fletcher 1800-1845. Wm married second Eliza unk and had 14 more children. Have those if you need them.
That should give you some places to check out and if you need anymore let me know and if you don't have book by Wayne Atterberry it's a treasure and he has done so much research of the Atterberry/Attebury/Atterbury etc families. I do have Isabella married in 1876 to Caleb Ballard I found their marriage record. I just don't have her brothers and sisters or her parents. My aunt says her parents were William and Cassie. I found the list of kids on the internet and seems like it could be her family. I go by this spelling because that is on the marriage certificate. I do find her in the 1880 censas in Arkansas as Franklin, Belle and Franklin baby. Franklin is Caleb's middle name. I wouldn't have thought it was them but brother James Ballard living next door. It shows her parents as being from Ky.
I'll just keep searching for her family. Thanks again.

I don't know if this is helpful or not but there is only one family of Atterberry's in Hancock Co IL. in 1850 and that is Asa Atterberry born 1817 KY, parents born SC (Isaiah, son of Charles & Sarah), Asa's wife Mary Stanley born abt 1824 MO.
Children at this time were Thomas born abt 1842, Rebecca A born abt 1844, William born 1846, Elizabeth 6 mo. All born MO. except Elizabeth in IL.
This family later had known children Jane, James, Clara B, and Sarah and lived in Harrison and Marion Co MO. I did a search for the names you mentioned with different Atterberry spellings with no luck and no George Washington anywhere unless he died young. Hope this helps some.

My great-grandparents were Calip Franklin Ballard death
AUG 1896 and Isabella Atterbury/Atterberry birth in 1854 Death Dec 25, 1909 Marriage-06 AUG 1876
My grandmother is Nancy Cassandra Ballard Woods, their daughter and your grandmother's sister. I remember grandma talking about Aunt Josie.
Calip did die first but Isabella remarried but I have not been able to find who she married after Calip. I had not heard the story of Calip and the children.
Zephanian and Cassandra Josephine Atterberry were Isabella's parents.
I would be glad to exchange any information I have.

Hi Amanda. Alpha was my great-grandmother too. I'm trying to find more information on the Hamiltons and the Atterberrys. Grandmother swore that Stephen's middle name was Issac, but mostly I see it listed as J online. Do you have documentation? And also I've never found anything about Alpha being in Pulaski County, where did you find that? Do you know anything about her being connected to Indiana? Thanks, Teresa.

I'm looking for information on a Nola Lowrey daughter of Nora Woodham Lowrey and William Emery Lowrey. I show that Nola was born approx. 1918 in Arkansas and died in 1976 in Bakersfield. My husbands grandfather had this information and we are trying to follow up on the leads. According to this information Nola would be his Grandfather's sister. I don't know if this Francis Marion married a Mary Clark. His 1st wife was Sarah and his 3d wife was Nancy Logan York. I have been unable to find any information on his 2nd wife. Francis Marion was born 10 Jan 1836 died 25 Oct 1904.
