Hi Michelle! I have a similar family thing with our last name. My Great Grandfather was Jeanclaude Aubertin. When he got to the U.S. he became John O. Burton. Hilarious. So after that we all became Burton's. We are from France, but settled in upstate NY too. You can check my tree and see if we cross or merge some place.
