Your great grand father is most probably a cousin of mine. He comes from the east part of France, from Nancy region. 30 miles away south from Nancy, there is a village called Mattaincourt. I beleive that's the place you are looking for. My great grand parents had a well known business in ceramics in Toul at that time ( 1850 s).
