Considering the Aubuchon "connection," it's a possibility that the EUNO surname was originally the french HENAUX/HUNAULT. The Aubuchon and Henaux/Hunault families resided in Kaskaskia, then later in Ste. Genevieve. Liturgical records for both families can be accessed on microfilm.

Almost every census record I've run across for Euno has an Aubuchon either living in the same house, or at least on the same street. I'm decended from the Euno's, so I'm really curious what the connection is.

Actually, Jeanne Aubuchon is the daughter of Jacques Aubuchon and Marguerite Itasse. They married in 1667, presumably after the death of Mathurine.

Oliver (Aubuchon) Fendler

I have a story that Oliver and his twin brother were born Nov. 10, 1918. One brother died as a baby, Oliver went on to be adopted to the Fendler family and later ran the Fendler Funeral Home. I found records of Ollie Fendler at the funeral home (http://www.heiligtagfuneralhome.com/dm20/en_US/locations/43/...), but I can't find the brother's name. Their parents were Steven John Aubuchon and Mamie Bertha (Smith)(Fitzwater)Aubuchon. I am stuck!

There is a town in France by the name of Aubusson, where the famouse rugs and tappestries come from, also where a very noble family made it's home. When Jean Aubusson
((b. 1591 in Ste. Rémi de Dieppe, Normandy, France) or his sons migrated to Quebec, the spelling was changed to Aubuchon. I do not know when or why the spelling of one branch changed the "b" to "B", but I expect it was a census employee who wrote it that way, and the family continued the practice.

The Family Aubusson was very highly respected and well connected in pre-revolutionary France.

In the "History of the House of France", Father Anselm begins the Aubusson Genealogy in 887ad, but Pepin the Short (Charlemagne's Father) granted Turpion Aubusson the rank of Palatine (second in the Empire). Ebon Aubusson, known in 750ad (Turpion's Father) signed the donation of the Duchy of Feuillade from Pepin the Short.

Certainly the family Aubusson having already attained such high nobility would have been known to the ancient princes of the Holy Roman Empire.

Between 750ad and 1763ad (lieutenant-colonel Pierre d'Aubusson of the French army) the family held title and power in French society. Many generations held the title of Vicomte or Prince and held the office of "Lord of the Terminal"

Florence, Wisconsin

Frances M. AuBuchon, 96, Florence, Wis., passed away Saturday, November 20, 2010, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain, Mich.

She was born September 5, 1914, in Dane, Wis., daughter of the late Matthew and Louisa (Wilke) Biwersi. In 1937 she married John L. AuBuchon at St. Michael Catholic Church, Dane. He preceded her in death in 1999.

Frances graduated from high school and Columbia County Normal School, Columbus, Wis. She taught school in West Allis, Wis. and was a cashier for many years. Frances enjoyed sewing and gardening.

Survivors include, one son, Philip (Dianne) AuBuchon, Spread Eagle, Wis.; four grandchildren, David (Rose) AuBuchon, Aurora, Wis., Michelle (Tim) Terrill, Rochester, Minn., Philip J. AuBuchon, Spread Eagle, Aimee (Jason) Moore, Aurora; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Lester Biwersi.

A combined graveside service for John L. and Frances M. AuBuchon will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Florence.

I'm no expert either. I do remmeber reading about it, and discussing it with a fellow from Switzerland that spoke French. I was told it translates to "to the wood" or "from the wood", basically "woodcutter" or "lumberjack".

I was also told that the meaning could be different depending on how it is pronounced and could me "to the cork" or "heavy drinker".

Note, My family hasn't used the capital "B", but I was told that is the correct spelling.

Ralph Albert Aubuchon married Helen Veronica Almon on 29 May 1916 Precious Blood Church, Woonsocket, RI.

origin of AuBuchon name

Has anyone determined the origin of the AuBuchon surname? From what I know of the French language (and I am by no means an expert) it looks like the name means "from Buchon". I haven't been able to find a location in France called Buchon, although I did at one time find Bichon. I have no idea if this is it, but I am curious if anyone else has found anything.

Célestin Abuchon was born 28 August 1839 in Berthierville. He had at least five children baptized there, with two dying in infancy. Any info on his descendants would be welcome.

Benefactor of the parochial Church of Montreal, Jean Aubuchon, died on 3 December 1685, gave three hundred pounds for the celebration of six masses: the first thursday of January, March, May, July, September, and November and each year perpetuity.
Jean Aubuchon Dit L’Esperance, was the son of Jean Aubuchon and of Jeanne Gille, living in the parish of Saint-Jacques of Dieppe.
On 12 April 1655, at Montreal, he married to Marguerite Sedilot, daughter of Louis and of Marie Grimoult.
As of today, Notre-Dame Church is still living to its obligation.

Jacques dit L'esperance death date

I am trying to determine the death date for Jacques AuBuchon dit L'esperance. The Dictionnaire généalogique des familles du Québec states that his death date is 7 Dec 1701, but there are marriage records for him and Catherine Godefray de Vienpport in 1730, specifically stating Jacques parents as Jean and Marguerite Sedilot. Is there another Jacques who could have died in 1701 who was thought to be this Jacques dit L'esperance?
Does anyone have the correct death date for Jacques dit L'esperance, and a readable document source? The entry in the Drouin collection for his death is very hard to read.

If you have a Francois in your line born in Quebec between about 1770 and 1799, and you've been able to trace him forward, would you let me know his birth/baptism details so I could eliminate him from 'my' Frank? I'm researching a Frank Aubuchon in Williamstown, Glengarry Co., ON found in the 1851, 1861 & 1871 censuses plus a death record 1871; all indicate a birthdate of about 1787 to 1794 in Quebec. (My Frnak is living with his daughter Amelie & grandsons Frank & Alex.)

The first Antoine Obershaw-Aubuchon was just born when his father died leaving his mother a young widow and remarried. When he was old enough he moved to Old Mines and married Jedidah which was already married and not a Catholic.He died when the children were small.

I have an Antoine (Antwine) Obershaw, b. 04 Mar 1859 in Waterloo Township, Grant Co., WI. d.02 Apr 1939 in Cassville, WI. He was married to Emma Groom. He and his sister Sarah Susan were the children of Jedidah Obershaw. I believe her maiden name was Sheffield. She died 22 Apr 1901. I have no husband's name for her. Looking for relatives or more information about Henriette Aubuchon (b 25 Aug 1837). She was the wife of Cuthbert Smith (b 1 Oct 1836). They had at least two children including my great grandmother who I believe was Marie Louise Smith. Louisa (which I believe she was called) was married to Joseph (Boule) Martin.

I know the parents of Henriette are Leocadie Frique and Charles Aubuchon.

From my study of French, albeit very little, "au" means "from", so I'm thinking the name means "from Buchon". Also, I was told by my GFIL that the AuBuchons came from a town called Buchon or Bichon. Maybe that would help.

I think it would be a good idea, we would have to get a few more people on board. I don't have any idea what it would cost, but I can start to look into it and see what I come up with.

We "AuBuchon's" all seem to be stuck at the same place in Dieppe, Normandie, France for such a long time. I just think it would be nice to try and move the time line back.
I think there is a name change that is holding us up.
Maybe we are looking for a weird variation of AUBUCHON or something. I just know I have been stuck at the same place for years now.

Has anyone consulted a Genealogist in France to see if we can get past the Jean Aubuchon born in Dieppe, Normandie, France in early 1600 or late 1500.
Maybe as a group we could combine some funds and hire someone to look into this for us. We could then share this information with all? Anyone ever tried this? Any idea of cost?
Just a thought as I sit here and realize none of us have moved backwards in at least 5 years of so.
