Merry Christmas to you. You have most of it right ... one slight problem Simeon died in 1713, Jonas was not born until 1731 in Schoharie, NY. If he was Simeon's son , he would be a little old to fight with Butler's Rangers during the American Revolution.
The dit vs de thing we could discuss forever. what I do know is my line used dit.The last one to still use it was my G.G.G.Grandfather , Thomas LeRoy dit Audy. His son Vital only used Audy. The next generation split, the first 2 sons used Audie (My G Grandfather Vital Audie) the last 3 children used Audet. Vital moved from Quebec to Maine. His younger brother moved to Ohio - you'll find Audie's there too!
