Hey there, I'll check on this if you haven't already found your info. Julius Ausbon, or Ausborn, was my great great grandfather. I've been doing the family research for a long time. Heard that the distant folks in Long Beach sent letters to my grandfather James Kirby Ausbon years ago. Hathcock's are also my folks. I live in Union City, CA now. takewest_music@yahoo.com
Ausborn in Germany

I only have information on Ausborns in Altona, Hamburg, Germany. Specifically Hans Frederich Ausborn, born May 1, 1790 in Poppenbuttel, died December 4, 1871 in Altona.
On July 7, 1811 he married Maria Dorothea Landahl, born April 12, 1790 in Klineken Oldesloe, died March 12, 1865 in Altona. They had 14 children but not all survived.
My ancestor is their daughter, Carolina Friederika Augusta, born January 27, 1816 and married Bernhard August Petersen June 3, 1846. Their son, Ferdinand, immigrated to the United States. He is my maternal great grandfather.
If anyone has any information on the Ausborns in Germany, I would very much appreciate help. I have the Ausborn family tree and hopefully could help someone else.
Thanks.

On my great-grandparents marriage certificate the parents for my great-grandmother are listed as L. Ausbin and M Ausbin and my great-grandmother is listed as Nancy Osborn. She married John F. Cook. I haven't found any information other than the marriage took place at Swan Creek Baptist Church. Their only child (my grandfather) was born in 1881. Nancy died shortly after.
The story is that she went to the spring to get water and never came back. She was dead along the path. I have two aunts who have had aneurhysms. One died quickly. I have had a neice who also died of an aneurhysm. It seems to skip generations. Iwould appreciate any help for this family.
Betty Cook McBride

I'm only guessing but I think it might be Julius Osborn's daughter(later changed to Ausborn) If you would look on the next page from John and Harriett Bennet in the 1880 census, you will see Julius with a daughter Elizabeth(often called Betty) She is age 18 and Matthew is 21 in the census. What do you think? Julius is a brother to my gg-grandmother Nancy Osborn through her son Joseph.

I have a Samuel Osborne b. 1851 in Pickens Co. Al. to Richard Russel Osborn and wife Julia Heard. She was died by 1860 and Richard had married a Rachel and had a daughter Leona and an Ida. Then in the 1880 census they had moved to Lowndes Co. Ms. Samuel had married to an Emma and Richard has married again to an Emily. There is another daughter Dosie age 18. He also had daughters Josephine and Georgia born to the marriage with Julia. In the 1880 census Samuel and Emma had a daughter Sallie age 5. He was a farmer and Richard was a dentist. Could this be the same Sam you're talking about? If so, I think we are related.
I can help you out with Martha. Her parents were Joel Avery Osborn and Mary Massengale. They moved from Troup Co. Ga. to Itawamba Co. Ms. abt 1839-40. Somewhere down the line the name was changed to Ausborn for some but my line kept the Osborn. Joel Avery Osborn was from Georgia and his wife Mary was from N.C. They had several children and I have a lot of info on them and will share if you want to email me. 2barndor@hoosierlink.net AND if you live close to Amory, Ms. they are having a Ausborn Reunion there on Sunday May 25th. My Mom is going and she has the info on it.

Thank you so much for your reply to the Levi Dunn and Delila Ausborn. Very interesting, I do have some info on Levi and Delila in the 1850 census with 4 daughters Mariah, Mary and Nancy @ 2 yrs at that time which would correspond with the info handed down in the family. There was another daughter but can't remember her name of the top of my head. But the next time I can find my Nancy she was living in Kentucky married to J.M. Kerbo with children in 1870 and it shows that her Mother Delila lives with them. There is a 20 year period that i have not found them at all and never have found anything more on Levi. Though maybe he was killed in the Civil War but have not been able to document that either.

But thanks so much for you interest. Sue Hayes

The spelling of the name seems to be a function of whomever was taking the census or doing other legal work. My grandmother's family also spelled their name Osborne. Between 1850 and 1920 I have found at least six spellings for the same family group living in Wilkes Co., N. C. in the same general area. One history I have seen puts them back to PA in the 1600's and another brings them in through Richmond, VA. I haven't been able to definitely link my family with either line. There were several families of Osborn, Ozburn, etc. living in Guilford Co. and Randolph Co. in NC in the mid-1700's on and they were Quakers. There was also established in Surry Co. and what is now Yadkin Co., NC several Quaker families, among them some Osbornes. The Ausburn spelling is not seen as often as some other variations. Good luck-Diane

Levi Dunn married Delia Asborn 22 October, 1858 in Marshall County, Alabama, Joseph Pendergrass Bdmn. On 1860 Marshall County AL census, there is Levi Dunn 54 m TN, Delilia 49 f NC, Mariah 16 f,AL, Mary 14 f, AL, Nancy 13,f, AL.
There was also a Levi Dunn that married Ann Garland 28 May, 1840 in Marshall County, AL. I don't know if this is the same Levi, but it's possible that Ann died and he married Delia in 1858. That would account for the teenagers. (this is just speculation on my part) This is not my line, but since I research in AL, especially Marshall County, I have lots of Marshall County info. Hope this helps.
