I think your correct in the Davison/Dawson.

I worked off micro film before Ancestry was what it is today. Took notes on index cards.

As I worked through boxes of index cards of Osenbaugh's (and the varis spellings) I was left with you KY people years after the fact. Between transcipers and my handwritting Dawson could have become Davison.

PS
I'm playing, it's summer. I returned to college a couple of years ago, so I'm not actively researching.

I think the Davison is misinterpreted from Dawson. Ky births lists a Mary J. Ausenbaugh born in Caldwell Co., Ky, to Jeremiah & mother Nancy E. Dawson. KY deaths list a Mary J. Newsom born same date with parents as Jerry & Nannie Ausenbaugh. She's buried Newsom Cemetery!
KY Deaths list Sarah Ann Cranor, widowed wife of Harrison Cranor, daughter of Jerry Ausenbaugh & unknown mother, born 1863 Caldwell Co., KY, buried at Isley Cemetery, Hopkins Co., KY, in 1945.
There's also a Nancy Ausenbaugh abode #98 age 27 died of consumption, June 1869 Caldwell Co., KY. Same abode 8 month old Martha Ausenbaugh died from worms July 1869. The mortality list went from June 1, 1869 - May 31, 1870....

Ausenbaughs of Western KY

My great grandfather Sam Riley had two Ausenbaugh older half brothers. Tom and Jim.. Sams mother Lucy E. Brown became the second wife of Jeremiah "Jerry" Ausenbaugh Oct 1869 Caldwell Co., KY. Jerry was a much older man than Lucy. In fact Jerrys oldest daughter M.J. wasn't much younger than Lucy. From what I understand Jerry died in a work explosion sometime between 1873 - 1876. I've been told Jerry was the son of Jacob Osenbaugh/Ausenbaugh who came from PA... Jeremiah is listed as 1st marrying a Nancy Davidson in Caldwell County. Lucy remarried to Filmore Riley Dec 1876 in Caldwell County. Lucy and Filmore had 5 more children together. Last one born 1890. Filmore died sometime in the 1890's. There is a picture of Lucy and all her children taken in the mid 1890's to 1898. Oldest son Tom Ausenbaugh is holding his baby son Silas T. and his wife Ruthie is in the picture too. Jim Ausenbaugh is in the picture. Sams son Dudley Riley remembers Jims sons Freddie and Rufas Ausenbaugh. Sams sister Mabel [Riley] Winstead died in 1948. Her obit. mentions her half brother Jim Ausenbaugh living in Dawson Springs at the time of her death (no mention of Tom). However, a grandaughter of Mabels remembers a Jerry Ausenbaugh relative living in IN in late 1940's to early 1950's.

Dotti,

Recieved your message dated Tuesday, March 28, 2000. I'm so excited to meet you! I have 9 generations from David with lots of documentation. Not only that, I met with David Daniel and Mary Alice Ausenbaugh's grandson last November in Kentucky and took pictures. Dog gonnit, I can't find my notes - buried under something (more papers) grrrr. I don't know if you're aware of it or not, but there is a rootsweb list for those looking for Shahan's. Please subscribe to SHAHAN-L@rootsweb.com as there is almost 100 of us trying desperately to connect all the Shahan's. Family History doesn't give me your e-mail address would you be adverse to letting me have it so I don't have to go through FH.com? Also - what city/state do you live in? Some of the subscribers to Shahan-L have bee researching their genealogy for at least 25 years. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Who knows, we may live close.

Regards,

Vena Shahan-DaProcida
Citrus Heights, CA
maryel@northvalley.com
