My great-great grandmother was Ann Aust who married William Williams in 1838 when she was 21 years old. Her father was William Aust who was listed as a mason on the marriage certificate. At the time of the wedding, the family was residing in Coombe Down in the parish of Monkton Coombe, Somerset. Ann and William's eldest son, James, emigrated to New Zealand in the mid-1800's. He was a widower when he married my great-grandmother in 1895 in Oamaru, New Zealand. For some reason, he was estranged from his English relatives, so we're quite sketchy on that side of the family. I'd be interested in finding out more about the Somerset Austs.
