More info that might be helpful. Research him as Fulcard and Volkert Auten. His uncle might have been Seabring/Sebring. Also check out an area in North Carolina called Steele Creek. Find a Grave has many Autens from that line listed in the local cemetery.
As best that I have found Fulcard had many children per his online pension application. One I suspect was a Richard Auten who married a Sarah. Between 1808 and 1810 Richard was living on the Indian Lands of York and Lancaster SC per surveys and leases of Catawba. After that only Sarah was found in the census records. I think spelled as Orton. He was listed with a Matthew Marable. This must be junior who married a Glover. I also suspect Richard had at least two children. It seems Joshua Auten named a son James Littleton Bennett Auten. His sister Sarah was married to James Littleton Bennett and they named a son Joshua Auten Bennett.
