Jacques-François OZENNE, born 23 Mar 1733 in New Orleans was the son of Jacques OZENNE, Cooper for the Company of the Indies in the Louisiana Territory and Julie MOREAU. He married legally in 1790, Marguerite DESCUIRS (Décuir on many records), daughter of Jean DESCUIRE of Flanders, Belgium and Geneviève MAYEUX at the Saint-Martin-de-Tours Catholic Church in St-Martinville. OUTSIDE of this marriage, there's at least, two femmes de couleur libres [Free women of colour] with whom he fathered children: namely, Jeanette GLAPION, a mulâtresse libre, native of Pointe-Coupée and Marie Chalinette, a mulâtresse affranchie [freed mulâtresse]. Jeanette bore him only one son who lived to reproduce, by the name of Valérien AUZENNE. He's ONE of the patriarchs of the French-Creole AUZENNE lineages in St-Landry Parish. Chalinette bore him one daughter, Lucille, who married Martin AUBRY. But Chalinette had another daughter for a nègre slave, presumably of the Louis-Charles de BLANC homestead, called Marie dite Chalinette de BLANC, a griffonne (griffe). Chalinette, the daughter, bore children for two of Jacques-François OZENNE, père (Sr)'s sons Joseph Edmond and Jacques-François, II. It was Jacques Philogène OZENNE, quarteron libre, son of Edmond and Chalinette (the daughter) who married Marie-Clémentine MEULLION and moved to St-Landry Parish starting another OZENNE lineage, one adhering to the AU spelling while the other the O.
