Recently, I located the following obit from The Augusta Chronicle Archives while researching a similar spelling.
dated: 10-12-1841, page 2, Tuesday
"Hon. Archer Avary, Senator elect from Columbia County, Ga., died at his residence on Sunday last, after a short but severe illness. A man of sterling integrity of character traited with generous impulses, he had long enjoyed the confidence of his countrymen, by whom loss will be sincerely deplored."
