Don't have much, but maybe something here will make sense.

I have C W Avary (Charles Wilson) b 24 Apr 1875 in Wilson County, TN, parents John Newton Avary and first wife Emma Whitten, m 10 Jan 1875 in Wayne County, TN. Emma apparently died either at or soon after Charles' birth, and John married Harriet Ellen Whitten on 14 Jan 1877 in Wayne Co, TN. They had two more children in Tennessee, Frances E and E B (both female)in 1878 and 1879. The next child was born in Texas in 1881, Alvin. Mary, 1883, and Artha 1885, were both born in Texas. The family of John Newton Avary (son of William Wilson Avary and Telitha Jane Thames) can be found in the 1880 Fannin County Census, p 473. Also listed are John's brothers, E D (Elias Downs, my husband's direct ancestor) and L D (Luke Dentley).
