I have a Charles Avary in my William Willson Avary line. The information comes from W.W. Avary's bible and letters found in that bible. The following list may help you. I do not know anything about your Hassel line.

1. WILLIAM WILLSON3 AVARY (???2, ROBERT1)1 was born February 01, 1824, and died October 09, 1898 in Ivanhoe, Fannin County, Texas. He married TELITHA JANE THAMES December 24, 1846. She was born November 19, 1826, and died July 01, 1900 in Ivanhoe, Fannin County, Texas.

WILLIAM WILLSON AVARY:
William Willson and Telitha Janes Avary moved to Texas in about July 1888. Church letter stating their good standing in the Methodist Episcopal Church in Tennessee which was to be given to the church they would join in Texas is in the possession of Zack and JoAnn Tannery, Nov 1997. Found in William's Bible
