Richard Avary & Rebecca Morris, GA

Seeking info on Richard Avary b. abt 1822 and Rebecca Morris b. abt 1839. Richard's first wife was Mahala Reed. They married in Columbia Co., GA in 1838 and had these children: Dorethea Ann, Archer, Madison & Charles. Richard married Rebecca Morris in Columbia Co., GA in 1859 and had Ida B. b. 1860. Can't find Richard, Rebecca or Ida B. after the 1860 census. Any info or help would be appreciated.

I'm desperately needing information on Thomas Avery and Caroline Wilson in England. Please reply or email anathema_studio@hotmail.com if you can help. Since I've seen the Avery name as Avary, Averie, Every, Everie, Aubery, and Abrey I thought I'd post here.
Thomas Avery born 07 May 1787 in Sommersetshire, England, died WFT Est. 1832-1879 Sommersetshire, England.
His wife Caroline Wilson, who I have almost no information on, born Bet. 1770 - 1800 and died WFT Est. 1833-1897.
Children included: Alfrod Avery (I've also seen this name as Alfred Avery) born 14 Sep 1832 Sommersetshire, England, immigrated to US around 1850, died in 1908. Alfrod's wife, Elizabeth Bunn, born 1832 in Eng., probably met coming to the US, She died in 1912.
They married in 1853 in Michigan, USA,
Most of Alfrod and Elizabeth's children were born in Michigan.
Their Children include: Oliver T Avery, Alice Avery, Ota Avery, Sarah Avery, William Avery, Joseph H Avery, Charlotte Avery.

Clara Mabelle BRECK married Harold AVARY and after her divorce from Harold, she married Hulon Edward CHRISTIAN.
Hulon died 1947. Seek information on what happened to Clara and her daughter Dorothy Eva AVARY. Dorothy was born about 1914 DeKalb Co, GA.

Should anyone else need the informaion, I located both Clara Breck Christian and daughter Dorothy Avary Bryan in Paducah, McCracken, KY where they are now buried at Maplelawn Cemetery.

Do you have the spouse of Martha Jane Avery (Avary?). I am looking for the parents of Jane Elizabeth Johnson Blackwell (b. abt 1853) and family documents list her parents as Matthew Johnson and Martha Avery. 1880 census in Cokesbury area of SC list Jane Elizabeth's parents as born in SC.

Madison is the son of Archer O. Avary and Sarah Harris Jones. They married October 18, 1804 in Georgia. Archer O was born abt 1773 in Mecklenburg Cty, VA and Sarah was born Aug. 3, 1785 in GA.

I find a will for Phoebe T. Avary dated 1-23-1880, Columbia County, GA. She died prior to May 1886. Her will mentions grandchildren Phoebe T., Mercy I., Wm. Madison, & Irine S. Flanigan. She provides for them in her will IF their father James T. Flanigan gives guardianship to her son Chas. B. Avary, executor of her estate. No other children are mentioned except Chas. B.

The 1880 Columbia County, GA census lists:
Phoebe Avary age 58, b. in GA;
Chas. B. Avary (son) age 19, b. in GA;
Phoebe Flanigan (g-dau) age 10, b. in GA;
Idalia Flanigan (g-dau) age 7, b. in GA;
Madison Flanigan (g-son) age 5, b. in GA.
These children belonged to her daughter Mercy Avary Flanigan, who apparently had died before 1880 when Phoebe made her will.

I find records which show a Madison Avery b. 1809 married to Phebe ? b. 1822. Who is this Madison Avary/Avery and how does he connect to other Avarys in Columbia County???

My gg grandparents were Iva (Ivy) Daniel Pearson and Sarah Avary. I have Sarah's parents as Miriam/Myriom Crumpton and Jesse Thomas Avary. Iva's parents are a bit of a mystery to me at the moment...

Iva and Sarah Pearson had four children: Robert W. is my great-grandfather and is the one who was killed in such a tragic train accident in Texas in 1911. Robert was married to Mary Wright and their youngest son, Jessie is my grandfather. I know they had four other children - Layman, Lelster, Willie and Robert.

I have limited knowledge of this family or of the Avary's other than what I have found on the web and have had much assistance from a wonderful researcher, Margaret Mathis.

I would love to hear from you. There's some great info out there on the Avary's (including Yeo). I can share with you what I've found so far (if you have not discovered it already).

I wish I could be of more help to you; I have no idea where my grandfather Elias Downs Avary got his name; since he was a 1st cousin twice removed from your Elias Holcomb he could have been named after him. My grandfather was born in 1955 just four years before your ancestor died; your ancestor died in Chambers county and my grandfather was born in Shelby County, just two counties away, so there was probably communication between them; Elias Holcomb and my gggrandfather Jesse Avary were first cousins and close to the same age; Jesse was born in 1803 and Elias Holcomb was born in 1805; does that agree with your information? I have a Lucinda Brown as the wife of Thomas Avary. No mention anywhere of a Lucinda Downs.

Am intrigued with your line Yeo Avory > George Avary > Charles > Robert > Jesse > William Wilson > Elias Downs. I also go back to Charles, then Thomas > Elias Holcomb. My Thomas is supposed to have married a Lucinda Downs, whom I cannot find anywhere and am beginning to wonder if that were her name. She is possibly Lucinda Brown, but your message gave me hope. Do you have any idea where your Elias Downs got his name? (I got much of my early information from Mary Whittier.) Thanks very much, Ernest Johnston

Hi Elizabeth Self White was my great great grandmother my great grandmother was Nora White Who married Willie Davis my grandfather was Frank Davis all from Edmonson County Ky. Elizabeth Self (Lizzie White) is buried just above my great grand mother Nora at the New Liberty cem. in Edmonson County Nora was Elizabeth`s daughter I don`t know a lot of information at this time because great grandmother Nora died when her children were little and my grandfather didn`t know much also I know nothing about Edward L White except their marriage and children I would like more information on Edward L white would like to hear from you . I have been looking for info on Yeo Avary as have most of the Avary descendants for a long time. My grgrmthr was Sarah Jane Avery (she changed the spelling) Pearson, daughter of Jesse Thomas Avary. Recently, I located the following obit from The Augusta Chronicle Archives while researching a similar spelling.
dated: 10-12-1841, page 2, Tuesday
"Hon. Archer Avary, Senator elect from Columbia County, Ga., died at his residence on Sunday last, after a short but severe illness. A man of sterling integrity of character traited with generous impulses, he had long enjoyed the confidence of his countrymen, by whom loss will be sincerely deplored."
