Re your appeal for details of Averres, my wife's grandmother was Isabella Averre, born at Brandon Colliery, Co Durham around 1876. She had a brother James who was 2 years older. These details are in the 1881 Census. The family later moved to Sunderland and she married a Harry Randle. Isabella's father was Charles Averre, son of James and Hannah, My mother-in-law used to say that the family were originally French, but I have only found a few records which places them in the south of County Durham, although I think that James the elder's father was a Paul Averre - Paul was not a common name in England around the 1800's, so possibly ma-in-law might have had something.
