Hi, I'm looking for Edith Matilda Aves born 1865 in Middlesex, Bethnal Green to Alfred Aves & Elizabeth Aves. After the 1881 Census there is absolutely no record of her at all or none that I can find. Do you have any info on her?
Another question is this - Elizabeth is the daughter of John & Sarah Aves (nee Cakebread) and Alfred is the son of William & Elizabeth Aves (nee Phillpott). John was born 1801 and William born in 1803.....are they in any way related? Just curious.
thanks for any info that you can pass on.
Linda

Hi,

We notice you have a Joseph vandy born approx 1848 listed in your family tree who married sarah Ann Hoare. We have been researching our own tree and have also a Joseph Vandy whose parents are William Vandy and Mary Ann Vandy (nee Ayley), the siblings you have listed are also identical to those in our tree- one being Rebecca Caroline Vandy who is our great, great grandmother. We were just wondering how confident you were about the marriage between Joseph Vandy and Sarah Hoare?

To add to Tracey's info, William's birthdate was 14Aug1791, parents John and Sarah Aves/Avis nee Burton. It's possible that he was the William Aves who died 24Feb1853 in Whitechapel, London. I've nothing further I can add to his life history.

Rosetta Aves b1842, West Row, Mildenhall, Suffolk, England

I'm looking for anyone with further information or a descendant of Rosetta Aves. I have a lot of info and certs to share, but am curious about the years 1875-1911 when I can find no trace of the families whereabouts. I have her life so far as follows:

Parents: Isaac Aves, Rosetta Parker
Sibling: Mary Ann Aves, born 1846
Born: 26 September 1842 West Row, Mildenhall, Suffolk
1851 census: West Row
1861 census: Cambridge (school mistress)
2 November 1863: has illegitimate daughter, Rosetta Alexandra Mary Huggins Anne Aves in Cambridge
10 April 1865: marries Joseph Pickup, "Professor of Music", in Sheffield, York
29 September 1869: has son Archibald Joseph Thomas Pickup in Yarmouth, Norfolk. Father Joseph is shown as "Eating House Keeper"
1871 census: Joseph, Rosetta, 'Alexandra', Archibald, (father) Isaac, (mother) Rosetta, (sister) Mary Ann all in Everton, Lancashire. Joseph shown as 'Musician', wife Rosetta shown as 'Actress'
7 September 1871: Archibald Pickup dies of Small Pox
27 November 1872: Beatrice Helena Pickup is born in Liverpool. Father Joseph is shown as 'A Musician'
April 1875: Isaac Aves dies in Liverpool
6 July 1875: Rosetta Pickup (widow) marries John Cleveland Beckett (Bachelor) in Sheffield, York. Note that both were previously married, both previous spouses seem to be still alive, and no record of divorce has been found.
[this is the last mention of Rosetta Aves Pickup Beckett I can find until the 1911 census. Daughter Alexandra marries Miles Leopold Murphy in Dover, Kent 14 Feb 1882. Daughter Beatrice Helena marries William George Canham in York in 1897. Beatrice Helena, husband William, daughter Beatrice Rosetta, and Aunt Mary Ann Aves are in Pancras, London in 1901. Daughter Alexandra marries Isador Joyel Smith in Portsmouth in 1902. Where did Rosetta go?]
1911 census: Nelly Rosetta Beck and John Cleveland Beck are found living in Fulham, London. with them are (sister) Mary Anne Aves, (daughter) Beatrice Canham, (granddaughter) Beatrice Rosetta Canham. Census shows Nelly Rosetta to have been the mother of FOUR children, three of whom are living. Who was the fourth??
1912: Rosetta Beckett dies in Fulham
1915: Mary Ann Aves dies in Fulham
1916: John C Beckett dies in Fulham
He lived on New Street in Cambridge St Andrew the Less. He was a carpenter by occupation. He married Elizabeth Munns sometime prob. before 1828. He died 21 Aug 1871. Elizabeth lived with daughter Victoria after Charles death.

They had four children: Mary Aves, b. abt 1828; Caroline Aves, b. abt 1829; Charles Aves b. abt 1837; and Victoria Aves, b. 15 Aug 1839 - married Charles Smith - d. 1909.

If you know this Charles father, please respond.

Hello JLTeas,
Charles Aves of Bottisham was the son of William Avesb1776 d 1846 and Mary Strand b 1783. Charles was my great grandfather, John Aves's brother. They both farmed in Great Wilbraham Cambridgeshire, England. His first wife was Lucy DIllISTON and they had a son,John Dilliston Aves. After her death he married Rebecca Tabram and they had three children: Lucy Rebecca Aves,b1868, Arthur Aves b1869 and Emily Aves b1871. Charles died Feb14 1887 aged 62yrs. He is buried in Great Wilbraham.
He married Lucy Dilliston on the 2June 1850: she was the daughter of John Dilliston(school master) and Sarah.

I realize you posted this some time ago and maybe that by now you have full details on Charles Aves.
I would, however be very interested to know your connection with the Aves family of Bottisham.

With best wishes,
Janet

Hello,

I am a descendent of a Burton Aves born 1808 in Lynford, Norfolk, England.
I know that he was a Shepherd, and died in 1888; lived in West Derehem and
Marham, Norfolk. I have knowledge of his several children which include a
couple of well-known shepherds of the day, including a Richard Aves. However, it is his son Benjamin Aves b. 1857 in West Derehem that I descend from, through his daughter Alice Maria Aves.

I'm wondering if this is one of the Aves lines that you have information on,
and what your fees are like? How does it work? Do I send you specific
questions, if I'm interested, and you charge for knowledge of each event?

Sincerely,

T. Skelton

It has been some time since your post, however I have a William Aves born 1791 in Tottingham, Norfolk on my chart. I have no record yet of marriages as I only just came accross him. What I have is that he is a son of John Aves b. app 1765 and Sarah Burton b. app 1767. I have a link to one of their other children, which was supposedly Burton Aves b. 1808 in Linford, Norfolk. My source was One World Tree. I have a line of Aves researched, if you would like to contact me.

I would also be interested in learning more about William Aves.

T. Skelton

There is also another childs name on the 1841 Census that was transcribed as Sears but it doesn't look like that to me and may possible be Olivia. What time period are you talking about? My GGG Grandfather was born 1801, Middlesex, married Sarah also born in 1801. My GG Grandfather was also a John who married Mary Ann and their daughter Katherine is my G Grandmother. What info have you been able to come up with?

He married in London an Ann from Southwark before 1816 so probably left Norfolk 1815 or earlier.

I have spent the last few years researching my Aves family tree, with great success I might add. The culmination of my research means that I can look up a birth, death or marriage at the drop of a hat as I have painstakingly over many years put my research on a database. I have at present,

AVES BIRTHS UK 1837-1998 (with certificate references up to 1990)

AVES MARRIAGES UK 1837-1947 (not yet completed, with certificate references up to 1880)

AVES DEATHS UK 1837-1998 (with certificate references up to 1893)

You can imagine the amount of time and effort this has taken, there are nearly 2000 entries for the marriages alone.

Now I am retired I need to keep busy and so I am offering this search service, for a nominal fee. Just think how much time I could save you.

For more information contact me at m.aves@tiscali.co.uk
Anyone have any records of these two? Birthdates? Who were their parents? Children's names/dob's? I think they married in 1896 in Bury St. Edmunds, now-Suffolk, England. I know William was in the army - a sergeant with the 4th Suffolk Regiment in India. They were back in England by 1905 when my Grandfather William John Aves was born in Ely. Other children (from family memories) were Florence "May"; Harold "Bob"; Irene Aves; John Aves; Kathleen Aves; Gladys Aves. Several of these could have been born in India - can't find any records in England.

AVES - George - Eleanor (Ellen) SUFFOLK, ENGLAND

I am searching for any information about my great grandmother Eleanor (Ellen) (AVES) Reynolds.

The only things I know are that she married my grandfather and that her father's names was George (from Marriage Certificate
U.K.)

In the 1901 Census she stated her name was Eleanor, but on her marriage Certificate she listed her name as Ellen. Her father's name as listed on the Marriage Certificate was George.

Also on the 1901 Census she lists her place of birth as Suffolk.

My greatgrandfather was from Pancras, and that is where they were married.
