Aviles, Joseph

JOSEPH B. AVILES Six days before his 87th birthday, Joseph B. Aviles, suddenly passed away. He was born in Brooklyn and graduated form Benjamin Franklin High School, New York City. Joe also attended Miami Dade County Institute in Florida, taking some business courses and also attended New York School of Business. In 1957, he and his family decided to settle in California. Joe was proud to be a Veteran of WWII, serving in the Regular Army from 1940 to 1945. He was a Sergeant and was scheduled for promotion at the time of his discharge. Joe worked at Fenchurch Exporting company in New York City and in California worked at McGaw Laboratory, as Supervisor of Shipping and Warehousing. When the company moved to Irvine, Joe and his wife who worked there also, declined to go to Irvine because there was no way the rest of the family was going to be left behind. Joe then went to work for the First Interstate Bank, as Supervisor, in shipping and in the Warehouse. He retired from the Bank in 1987. Joe is survived by his wife, Norma Aviles; daughter, Arlene Carletti; grandchildren, Connie Senner (Rich), Clifford Carletti (Michelle), Terry Boysen (Hans), Steve Carletti (Marylou) and Billy Carletti; and great grandchildren, Cristina, Nicholas, Hans Jr., Christopher, Cameron, Haley, Ryanne and Serena. In his retirement years, Joe spent his time just loafing around the house. His only exercise was to walk to Carls Jr. everyday. His famous remark was, "I worked hard all my life and now that I am retired that's what I am doing. Nothing!" Everyone loved Joe. When he was younger he was the life of the party and was a great dancer! If a band were available Joe would take charge of singing and playing different musical instruments. Everyone would be amazed at Joe's talents especially being conversant in seven different languages. "You will be missed, Joe. Your kids are heartbroken. We are glad we celebrated your birthday a couple of days earlier. Today, on your birthday, May 29, 2006, we toast you with love." A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate the life of Joseph B. Aviles, on Saturday, June 17, 2006, 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., at the home of the Boysen Family, 13142 Knotty Pine, Moorpark, CA 93021.
