John "Johnny" Avon, Jr., age 68 of Shady Shores, (Denton County), Texas, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2007, in Lewisville. He was born July 18, 1939 in Fort Worth, Texas to John S. Avon, Sr., and Mary Francis Love Avon. John married Barbara Willingham who preceded him in death on June 28, 1992. He then married Lynda Whitlock on May 20, 1995 in Lewisville.
John was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewisville and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a retired firefighter from the city of Dallas.
He is survived by his wife, Lynda; children, Donna Sivley, Kim Bowden, John S. Avon, III, Traci Stephenson, Bonnie Longclaws, Trina Whitlock, Craig Whitlock, and Brian Whitlock; 17 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; his sisters, Sue Brown, Sara Loughney and Mary Jan Linn, and his brother, Tommy Avon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2007, at St Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, Interent will follow at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association.
