David (Dewald) Speck is my gggggg-grandfather. The information I have is that he was born in Germany, date unknown and died in Mecklinburg, NC in 1782 or 1791. I have that he came to the US on the ship "Friendship" in 1744, arriving in Philadelphia, PA. His name is on passenger lists of the ship, it's on the Internet many different places. He married Barbara in SC and she died about 1800. I am related through his son George Speck 1775-1860.
