There's a record in the Wuerttemberg, Germany, Emigration Index on Ancestry for one Johannes Alt that might be Johannes Awalt (b 1722); here is what it says:
District: Goeppingen
Name: Alt, Johannes
Birth Place: Sparwiesen
Application Date: 1836
Destination: Philadelphia
Number: 598679
