Yes there is a cemetery in Franklin Co. Tenn. It's actually the "New Awalt Family Cemetery". There are some Awalt's and Beans burried there. The only names that look familiar from the headstones there are Elizabeth Awalt and John Bean. The Awalt Community that used to be in the area had a cemetery that was moved to its current location when they built the Tims Ford lake. There are lots of headstones in the back that are illegible or don't have names, only dates.

I had just a few minutes tonight and ran over to the Iowa State Historical Library. There I found an ENTIRE BOOK (maybe 100+ pages!) on the Awalt Family History, starting with Michael Awalt and Sarah Tipps.

I just copied the first 12 pages before the library closed.
will try and get the rest done this weekend.

I am also a desendant of Michael Awalt, my father was Cliffard Mack Awalt, his father James Clinton Awalt. My grandmother lived to be over 100 years old in Halstead Kansas. My brother Bill Awalt and I are the last of the Awalt clan. As there were no sons born other than us and we have no sons. I live on Lake Travis in Austin Texas area. My brother and I flew to Awalt Bend area in TN and located the burial site. We even crossed "Awalt" bridge.

The children's names for the offspring of the Awalt/Speck family are pretty much what I have. I have a lot of information on the Awalts and you can find more on the rootsweb messageboard under David Campbell posting there about the Awalt family cemetery in Franklin, TN. That mposting was in 2005 and he lists a lot of the family buried there. Also the Heathcock family has some on the Awalts/Morlans etc on rootsweb.com with the search of Evaline Awalt. I am a descendant of Michael Abraham Awalt and Eva Speck I am wondering if any one knows where they are buried at I have seen on the net. that Michael might be buried around Awalt Bend in Franklin Co., TN. has anyone been to this area ?

Yup, that's them all right. They are in the middle of the post you replied to. I have a note that a Barbara Berger is said to have married both David the immigrant and also David the son; the dates given match the son, so I have left David the immigrant's wife as just Barbara (--?--).

I have a lot of my trees at childsfamily.com; find the genealogy section (or admire my grandchildren, if you'd rather :) ). I am in the middle of a fairly major update, which won't be posted at that site for a while, but I don't think I'm making any particular changes to the Awalts & Specks.

If you don't mind - could you tell me your sources? (Mine are shown on the online tree.)

Eveline Awalt is not the same person as Eva Awalt.

Eveline was the daughter of John A. Awalt and Clarinda Ockerman (Ackerman) John A Awalt is the son of Michael Awalt, JR. & Sarah Tipps. Eva would have been a neice.

Most of my sources are scattered in a pile under the computer. A lot of infor came from Ancestry.com Family Trees, postings, e-mails, and family. Sorry nothing specific at this time.

YOHANN AWALT M. ? His father Ludwig Awalt from Germany. Ect. Eva Specks parents were David (Dewald) Speck (specht?) and Barbara (Berger?). Crossed to America on Friendship into Philadelphia, PA on Nov 2, 1744.
David died in Mecklenburg Co., NC

Yohann's father was Ludwig Awalt b. abt 1700 in Wurtenburg, Baravia, Germany m. to Agnes ?

I am a descendent of Michael Abraham Awalt, SR and Eva Speck. They were married in Mecklenburg Co., NC on 17 April 1778. Any connection???? Michael's father was Yohann Awalt. Michael and Eva Speck had a least one son named Michael Awalt, JR b. about 1785/88 married to Sarah Tipps. Any connections???????

Your Eveline Awalt is different from my two Eva Awalts:
1. Eva Awalt (bef 1790-__) marr. John Pylant. Her parents were Michael Abraham Awalt, Sr., and Eva Speck.
2. Eva Awalt (1822-1868) marr. Jeremiah Bell. Her parents were George Awalt and Catherine Speck.

Do I have anything you'd like more info about (if I have any)?

What I am interested in (from this line) would be info about:

Ludwig Awalt b abt 1700 Bavaria, married Agnes (--?--); did they emigrate to America when their son Michael did? What was Agnes' maiden name? When did they die, & where? What was Ludwig's occupation? Etc.
Johannes Awalt, b abt 1722 Bavaria, marr. ????; must have emigrated to America as their son Michael was born in PA, but I don't know when. Do not even know his wife's name.
Michael Abraham Awalt (abt 1755, Germantown, Philadelphis, PA - 6 Apr 1835, Franklin TN); he married Eva Speck (Apr 1763 Mecklenburg, SC - 2 Aug 1848 Franklin, TN). I have her parents as David (Dewalt) Speck Sr. (1729- abt 1781) + Barbara ????; would like to know more about Eva Speck's ancestry. I have Michael's will, a list of his children, most of his children's spouses, and his Revolutionary War service history.
George Awalt (25 Nov 1779 Mecklenburg, NC - 22 Mar 1861 AR). He married Catherine Speck (23 Jun 1780, NC - 13 Jul 1862, AR); their marriage record has his name as Pahall. I would like to know more about Catherine; I don't have her parents or any possible relationship between Catherine & Catherine's mother-in-law, Eva Speck.

I agree, faces with info is a nice thing. But we don't have any pictures of my husband's Awalts; the most recent one he has is Eva Awalt, & she died in 1868, so I guess it isn't too surprising she didn't have her picture made.

Do you have any pictures for the Awalts who lived before Eva? (George, Michael Abraham Sr., Johannes, Ludwig) Maybe someone made a drawing or something, but I haven't seen such.
