William AXE (20 Apr. 1823, Germantown, PA - 27 Jan. 1905, aged 81-9-7, Westchester, IN, funeral at U. B. Church) was s/o Hannah [LESSELY] & George AXE. He accompanied his parents to Ohio and then in 1838 to Bearcreek Twp., Jay Co. After his father's death in 1847, he cared for his mother until her death in 1888. In his old age, he lived with his nephew Wm. of Westchester and spent time in the country store kept by his nephew's son George.

Wm. was eldest of eight children, and four had preceded him in death: Ann BERGMAN, Peter, George, & Fred. He was survived by siblings Lyd(i)a DRAKE, Sarah BECK, & Charles AXE.
