THANKS. Most I have gotten so far. The travels were not by Rosenlund Travel because my uncle Axel hadn't started that
agency until early in the 1900's. He was one of 5 boys. Question exists that they may have had a daughter - but unable to prove that.
I'm having computer troubles and will be down for a week or two.
while an expert works on it. At that time i'll get back to you.
I am very thankful for your time and information.
Warren
You are right Warren, five sons left Sweden for the big country over there.

The possibility of August and Emilia having a daughter made me dig a little deeper. I found a girl but also one more boy. However, both died at young age.

Counting children seems to be difficult for me ;-) Johan P Axell had not 16 but 15 children, 9 in his first marriage (one of them was Emilia) and 6 in his second marriage (one of them was married to my grandmother's oldest sister).

Warren, I guess that your Axell link to Sweden is Emilia Maria Axell, born 1858-08-07 in Ryda parish, Skaraborg county, in the Swedish province Vastergotland.
She was married to August Rosenlund, born 1851-12-19 in Skarhult parish, Malmohus county, in the Swedish province Skane.

They emigrated from Goteborg, Sweden, 1922-03-07 (maybe Rosenlund Travel Service Inc arranged their trip?) Six sons had emigrated earlier.

Emilia’s father Johan Patrik Axell who had altogether 16 (!) children was born 1817-12-27 in Bottnaryd parish, Jonkoping county, in the Swedish province Smaland.

Do you already know those Axells?

Johan Fredrik Axell

I am helping my father to find information about his grandfather Johan Fredrik Axell, who went to America in 1907. We have found his record at Ellis Island, and we are now interested of what might have happened to him.
In the Ellis Island record his name is Johan Fred. Axel (with one l). Date of arrival is September 18, 1907. It is difficult to read the text in original document, but it looks like his final destination is Rugby Junction in N.D (is that North Dakota?) and that he is going to his brother in law Axel Larson. I have found a Rugby Junction, but that is in Washington County, Wisconsin.

My grndfather on my mother's side, David Axel, was born in Eastern Europe, presumably Russia, in the late 19th century, and died in New York City in 1951. I understand he lost most of his family in Europe in the Holocaust, although he had at least one siter , Mollie, who also came to this country. I'm not sure if his name actually was a derivative of some other name, or much else about the origins of this family. Please let me know if this is helpful, or if you might be interested in more recent family information.
David P. Buchholtz
