Aycock DNA project -- update!

I submitted for DNA testing, with some interesting results. First of all, no other Aycock males have submitted DNA testing, to my disappointment. Second, my results placed me in the haplogroup J2, which is somewhat unusual for British Island ancestry. J2 is more common to Jewish, Middle Eastern, and Southern European decent. What does this mean? That I have a very very distant male ancestor who was likely from Mediterranean origins. Likely reasons for the link could be: A Roman soldier married a local Briton at some point, or that our ancestor was one of many Spaniards who migrated to Britain during the post Ice Age. Barring an adoption, which I found no evidence of, it is possible the Aycock's could be of the J2 haplogroup. The only way to find out is for another Aycock male to take the test. Doing so would not only confirm the J2 haplogroup, but also potentially link up our several sub-families in the Carolina's and Georgia. Please consider taking the test! It is painless and now very affordable. Contact me for more info: r.aycock@comcast.net. Thanks!
