Aydelott Surname DNA Project

There is now a Surname DNA Project for the surname AYDELOTT, and any variant spellings of the name. Recent research has raised the question of possible separate family lines of Aydelotts in America. The only way to be sure is DNA testing.

This Surname project is for males only, as the Y-DNA is carried only by the males of the family. Ladies, maybe your father, brother, or a male cousin would be willing to participate on your behalf.

If you would like to participate, please go to https://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=AYDELOTT and join.

Feel free to contact me with any questions - ayholtin@gmail.com

Look up on Ocean City, Maryland web site. Has genealogy section, you can do a search for Rebecca's surname. Links to MILLS. HOOVER is also linked to MILLS.

Might explain matching DNA markers on Y Search web site.
Pat
cw

Was Nancy HOOVER related to George? She married an Aaron MILLS or Aaron Moses MILLS. Not sure which is correct for his name.
Also linked to McLEOD surname too.
Watson Aydelott who married Elizabeth Hoard ... their daughter was Sarah Ann Aydlotte (spelled many ways) who married James Hayden Gardner. Watson's parents were John Aydlet (also signed as Aydelote) who married Elizabeth Hutchison on May 3, 1819 in Pendleton Co, KY. John died 1852. Seeking John's parents.
Thank you so very much. This is fantastic! I recently sent for information from Delaware Vital Statistics, hoping his burial location would be included, but it wasn't. Even though he died in Battle, I strongly suspected he was buried back home.Again, this is a very big help, and I thank you very, very much.
Ted
Co. K, 81st PVI

SURNAME AYDELOTT / AYDETOTT

In researching my "RUSH" family history I have come across a Harrison Co., In land record 1843 that shows BENJAMIN AYDETOTT in a joint land venture with whom I believe is my GGGGrandfather JOHN RUSH. JOHN RUSH is listed in the HARDIN CO., KY 1810, 1820, 1830 census along with SIMEON RUSH who married JULIET WHITE. SIMEON AND JULIET had a daughter AMANDA RUSH who married CLETUS MARCELLUS RINEY. These families all moved to Scotland Co., MO abt. 1856 Where ALONZO RUSH enlisted for the civil war 1861. ALONZO RUSH would have possibly been a brother to AMANDA RUSH as SIMEON and JULIET had 2 sons listed in the 1820 census. Also listed on this land venture was a ISAAC N. SMITH., same date same land discription!
Also Cletus Marcellus and Amanda Marline Riney named one of the sons "ALONZO" I BELIEVE THAT JOHN RUSH and SIMEON RUSH were brothers, and related to BENJAMIN AYDETOTT / AYDELOTT. Do you have a BENJAMIN AYDELOTT listed in your family history?
Thank You,
Mary

Genealogy.com has a family tree of Aydelotts that has a Hester Jane Aydelott b. 12-28-1848, oldest of 10 children of John W. Aydelott & Drusilla G. Payne. Father b. & d. Pocomoke City, MD. No other info on Hester. My Rebecca Aydelott is Hester's 4th cousin, once removed.
lonnngggg shot here.........
Seeking parents and/or siblings of Richard Aydelotte BARTON
prob born 1900-1906 died in Carlsbad, NM in 1931.
Richard married Alta Jewell [SEBER] after the 1920 Palo Pinto Co Tx census was taken (Alta was single & living with her parents on this census) and probably before 1925. Alta & Richard had 2 daughters (Oleta and Anna Lois) and their youngest child Joseph Aydelotte BARTON born 09 Sep 1928.
I'm thinking that Richard's mother's maiden name may have been AYDELOTTE or perhaps Aydelotte is in the BARTON line.
Alta Jewell [Seber] was born 08 Jun 1906 Tx and died 26 Dec 1933 in Oklahoma and was the daughter of Joseph Weldon SEBER and Janie Lula [LYONS]. I don't have any other information/clues to help identify the source of the name AYDELOTTE in this family.
Appreciate any insight you might share,
Kathye
