I was reading your post and I know that I'm a relative. My name is Helen Baack. My fathers name was Hugo. My mothers maiden name was Gertz. My mother was born in Lehe. She crossed the ocean with Henrick,Dora and their son Fredrick. My mother and father were married in Henrick and Doras home in Woodlawn, New York. I remember visiting them. My name is Helen Baack. I was reading your post and I think you may be a relative. I had an Uncle whose name was Geroge Baack. He was married to Florence. They lived in Middletown New York. My Grandfather was Heinrick Baack and my grandmother was Maria Fastert. My fathers name was Hugo and my mother was Elfiede. My father Hugo and Mother past away in Ca. Hello! My grandma on my father's side has the maiden name Baack. Her father Otto was I believe Ed's brother! I am new to this, so I am not sure how to help, but I think this is extremely interesting. =)

My name is Helene Hollwegs (USA). My father, Fred Hollwegs, was second cousin to Ellie (Goetz?) who married Hugo Baack. They had five children: Dorothy, Hugo, Henry, Helen and Diane. Last I knew Helen and Diane were living in CA. I would like to be in contact with them. My father's father, Henry Hollwegs, was born in Bremerhaven-Lehe in 1875. Do you have any infomation about the Hollwegs family?

I am a great-grandchild of August & Caroline Baack. My father was Wilbert Siegmund (he died on 4/15/07). His mother Adelheit (Baack) Seigmund and your father were siblings. Does the Baack family still have reunions in Giddings or nearby? I live in Hutto (near Taylor).

These names are not familiar to me however I have just started to some Baack research on behalf of someone else. I am research Dedrick Baack who married Wilhelmine (Minnie) Schwick in 1883/1884. They lived in Hamilton County Nebraska however were both from Germany.

Are these names in your family history.

I just found a photo of August Baak and Sophia Koch after their wedding. The picture has writing on the back that states that it was taken in England while the couple were on their way from Germany to Chicago, IL. I believe it was taken sometime before 1872.

I know Joachim Christian Baak married Friederike Luise Caroline Krueger and that they had a child, August Johann Friedrich Baak, born 7 Oct 1840 (Bushhof, Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Germany) married Sophia Koch (possibly a widow) and died 15 Jun 1907 (Crawford County, Iowa).

July 14, 1900 in Elltown, Hancock Cty IA. Married Anna Moldenhauer b. July 4, 1961 Mecklinburg Strelitz d. Dec. 21, 1934 Klemme, Hancock Cty IA Wilhelm's parents were Ernst Baack and Louisa Walker who both were born and died in Germany.
I have the account of the farming accident that killed Wilhelm. Let me know if I should forward it to you.

While searching for my father's Baack ancestors 15 years ago, some wonderful folks from the Klemme, Iowa area dictated, from memory, a list of descendents of Wilhelm Friedrick Baack. Some I have verified, many I have not, but I would love to share it with anyone interested.

My informtion states that the Baacks came from Mecklenburg-Strelitz, perhaps a place called Teeswoos. If you look at a map of Germany in the 1880s, in what is today East Germany, along the Elbe River, there is a little area where all the towns have doulble vowel spellings -- like Baack -- it's kind of strange, because it seems to be a very small region where this occurs.
