here is what i have so far :

Michal Baade arrived in Bergen 1700 17 years old
Hans Baade arrived in bergen 1701 22 years old
Daniel Baade arrived in Bergen 1706 20 years old
Peter Baade arrived in Bergen 1710 20 years old
Stephen Baade arrived in Bergen 1721 15 years old

All of the above was sons of a Michal Baade in Rostock or Lubeck in Germany

You should check out a book by Torvald Baade (my grandfather) he made a summary of our family tree back to 1500 in Lubeck in Germany .
I think that this book will give some answers to your questione .

March 1742 "Dåpskirken" in Bergen. Dead 1. January 1805 in Bergen.

Hans Baade Born 1739
Cornelia Baade born 1736
Anna Baade born 1737

(Yes it`s correct, the were relatively young when their parents died)

Yes, Baade may be a German name, but there's quite a history of them in Norway, including some records of emigrants from Norway to America, to be found in a book on the Magnus family [Slægten Magnus] which I happen to have.....

Hello,

I'm attempting to make the great leap, tracing someone back across the Atlantic. I'm looking for information on my great X3 grandmother, Sophia Baade. The only information I have about her is her name, and an 1870 census report from Watertown, Wisconsin that lists her as being born in Mecklenburg @ 1827.

I unfortunatly have nothing else to go on, and am reduced to begging for help. Sophia married Carl Marquart (born @1827 in Hanover) sometime after both had emigrated to the US. Other than this I have one paragraph in an old family history, which I will copy verbatum:

"The wife of Carl Marquart was Sophia Baade whose only brother Carl Baade, faithful to an early love, remained unwed. He died in Philidelphia at the ripe age of 90 years, some four years back (@1935). The only sister of Sophia was Amalia Baade who married William Eggersgluess. Thier children are Daniel, Jack, Albert, Otto, William, Mrs. Rolke, Mrs. Carrie Rosin, and by a later marriage Helen Eggersgluess Killian and Louis Eggersgluess."

Carl Marquart emigrated directly to Watertown, WI after arrival in America @ 1848, so I must assume that Sophia, Amalia and Carl Baade must have lived in Watertown with their parents. Carl and Sophia's first child, Augusta, was born @ 1856, in Watertown.

If anyone has any information regarding this family, and can help me make that cross-ocean leap, I would be eternally grateful.

Thanks for your email. I was really excited to find out where my Great grandfather was born. As for the 1891 census, I have already looked this up, but only Dorothy, Fred and David were on there. Perhaps Albert was away at Sea, and of course Albert Jnr. wasn't born then.

I was just interested in your subject line re the pronounciation of Baade as "Bay-de" - we have always pronounced Baade as "Bardy". Maybe the Australian Baade's are a bit different to other ones (!).

Looking for information on my father's side of family, Dad had a stroke some years ago, can't get much info from him. Baade's from Iowa, he said his dad's name was Hank or Henry, died when my dad was 5 or 6 of cancer, so maybe died around 1945 or so? Grandma was Elizabeth, after Grandpa Baade died Elizabeth married a Henry Oudekerk.

Looking for any information on Fred Baade who died approx 1916-17 in Iowa. Possibly married to Adele Buck Baade. Family of Floyd, Jason, and Doris moved with Adele to Northern Minnesota (Pitt, MN) in 1918. The August name was passed on as a middle name in the Baade lineage so this is a very probable match.

I have a record of a Elmer Henry Baade born April 2, 1914 in Benona Twp, Michigan and died May 23, 1941 in Shelby, Michigan of pneumonia. He was married to Elizabeth Ora Long who went by the name "Betty".
They were married Nov 23, 1935 in Michigan.

Peter, when did your Baade's come over?
Mine came in the 1850's (Jacob Bernhard Baade) and settled in Sale, Victoria marrying Sarah Gibbs.

11th child of Jacob Bernhard Baade and Sarah Gibbs.
My great grandfather was Jacob's third child Albert.
