Would like to compare notes with you. I have ancestors who lived in Grand Haven, Mi. Most notable is Jacob Baar born 1859 in Grand Haven, married to Hattie Slaghuis. He was a very prominent man in Grand Haven. Postmaster, Mayor,Owned a land and real estate company, negotiated to bring electric power to Grand Haven,and much more. His father was Simon Baar, born in Holland, married Lena Yonker, settled in Grand Haven 1856.

Also on a another branch is Peter Baar, born about 1875 in Chicago. He married a Henrietta van der Ven. They owned a poultry farm in Three Oaks Michigan.It could be that some of their children could intersect with your family.

You may have found the Brontsema and Baar info since your 2004 post.

My G-2 Grandfather married Hilje Willems Brontsema of 'tZandt, NL. My G-2 Grandfather is Bene Hindrik Baar B. Uithuizenmeeden, NL.

Hi,

I was just wondering if you know something about people with the name "van Baar" living in the US.
I found some emailadresses of people with the name "van Baar"but they didn't exist anymore when I wrote them.

I'd like to find out if there is anything known about their "link" with the netherlands since I'm not aware of any emigrations in our family.

the name Baar is possibly dutch. You can search at www.genlias.nl for the archivis in the Netherlands.
I'm searching for Jan Baar and his wife Jantje Brontsema they go to the U.S about 1900/1920 and come from the provence Groningen

Debra, wow. This has been quite a month for me. Edward was my grandfather!! I recently found relatives on my grandmothers side as well. If we could take this to private e-mail we can compare notes and perhaps get to know one another.

Hi, I thought I should give you a little more info and that would help you to know if I'm part of the family your looking for.
My Grandfather John was Dutch and I had heard at one time that his name at one time may have been DeBaar from the Netherlands. I have traced their roots back to the Netherlands and there I got stuck.
His children with Pearl were Robert, Anna, Edward and Claude. They settled in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Both John and Pearl are buried here in Grand Rapids.

Hi my name is Deb and my paternal grandfather was John Henry Baar. My grandmother was Pearl Baar Harrison, she lived with me as whenI was a child.
I have done alot of Geneology on the Baar family and can share with you. What relationship are you if any to Mr. Baar?

I have family phot's of them also. My Father Claude Baar is their remaining living child.

Hey thanks for the info on Paul. He actually is my uncle, but I haven't talked to him since I was a kid. Him and my dad had a falling out a few years ago (their brothers).

Louis William Baar was born 1928 in New York and married Joan Casavant of New York. Had 2 sons Louis Frederick Baar born 9 sept 1953 and Paul William Baar born 20 Aug 1956 in New York. Louis Frederick married Gloria Odom in 1980 and had 1 daugher Jennifer Dawn born 5 nov 1981. Paul william married suzanne glueck in 1980 had no children. Louis William Baar has not seen his oldest son since he was 5 years old. We have no information on the Baar side of the family. If you have any information please email me.
