RUTH BAARS
MUSCATINE, Iowa - Ruth B. Baars, 66, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001, at her home, 2910 Dawson, after an extended battle with breast cancer
Funeral services will be at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Chaplin Jerry Timmerman, Hospice Chaplin will officiate. Pallbearers will be Kevin West, Mark Hutchings, Robert Allbee, Jeff Jarrett, Jeff Baird, and Tim Howell. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Mrs. Baars was born on June 20, 1935, in Muscatine, the daughter of Omer and Geneva Ellen Landers Muhlenburg. She married James E. Baars on June 9, 1962, in Muscatine.
She worked at the Credit Bureau of Muscatine, Inc. for 25 years.
She enjoyed crocheting filet names, tablecloths, doilies, baby blankets and baby sweaters.
Survivors include her husband, James E. Baars of Muscatine, four sons, Michael BAARS of Dubuque, Terry BAARS of Muscatine, Matthew BAARS of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Timothy BAARS and his wife, Shawn, of Muscatine; one daughter, Ada Marie Whitworth and her husband, John W., of Muscatine; six grandchildren, Tyler BAARS, Whitney BAARS, Stephanie BAARS, Zackary BAARS, Hannah Whitworth, and Andrew Whitworth; one step-granddaughter, Amanda Whitworth; four sisters, Mildred Muhlenburg of Aledo, Illinois, Oral Howard of Aledo, Illinois, Patricia Griffith of Chicago, Illinois, and Beverly Short of New Boston, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Glen Muhlenburg, and one sister, Rhoda Nesbitt.
No relation my kids went to school with hers.
