I'm don't know why I didn't pick up on your message earlier, but I'm almost certain that Karl Friederich Ferdinand Baas was brother to one of my great great grandfathers Heinrich August Ferdinand Baas (b. 1825). They were two of five sons of Ernst Christian and Sophie Bass who emigrated from Pomerania to Milwaukee in about 1845.
