Nicholas located to Verdun, France, at age 11. In 1880, he immigrated to Ohio; in 1881, he went to Helena, MT, and later to Marysville. In 1890, he moved to Columbia Falls, MT, & in 1892 to Great Falls, MT; 1919, to Billings MT.

On 20 Aug 1898, Nick married Miss Elizabeth Zimmerman, a native of Cincinnati, OH.
