It's unclear what you mean by family; did these 1920 and 1930 census listings include both Boye and Walter? If the latter, was his wife Jewel there, too?

Are you sure it wasn't Boye rather than Walter who went back to Durango? The reason I ask is because this family is described in "Babb Families of America (3rd ed.)", and it says that Walter died in 1934 of heart problems (his wife Jewel died in 1991 at the age of 91). Nothing at all is said about Boye, though (other than that there were 11 children altogether, with Walter the youngest).

How old are this woman's Walter and Boye? Is it possible that the latter is the same as yours? It would be a senior romance, for sure, but not out of the question. Or there may be an additional generation or two stuck in, but keeping the same family names.

For reference, Bill Ike is given in "Babb Families" as 1-2-2-1-6-1-2-3-1.
